Facebook + New Job = New Spam Friends?

Alright, so I just moved out to Los Angeles and I've been applying for jobs for the 3 weeks now. I'm probably over 30 different applications. Before I moved out here, I never got any "spam" friends on Facebook. However it seems like that now I'm getting at least 2 a day, totaling about 14 now.How likely is it that these spam friends are actually companies out here? I have not been confirming any of them just because I think it's stupid. However I still don't have a job - correlation? Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with this at all. Thanks.

Thats legit, but a lot of these people or over seas - Asia area mainly. Some are just "normal" looking people, others are like drop gorgeous (girls of course) and located in Europe.

So should I accept them, or just brush them off like I've been doing?

Just decline them. If they say anything, just say you don't add random people

Obviously it's companies. I'd say accept them, unless you have stuff to hide on your fb. If anything it'll let the companies do what they want, and maybe get you a job. Then once you get it call them all out

If you have a really professional/good/nice facebook, definitely accept them. Use your facebook that is totally appropriate as a TOOL to impress them and have them want you over somebody else. This will let them see you're actually a person who lives a nice life.
If your facebook has things that an employer would deem innapropriate, well obviously don't accept them.

Although send them a message asking who they are, that way they'll see what they want to see...but won't think you're weird for accepting random strangers as friends.
Maybe I'm over analyzing, but I'm going to be applying for teaching positions this spring and it takes literally everything to separate yourself from other candidates right now.

I'd say no, don't accept.
If they want to get to know you, they will call you in for an interview.
You're probably sending your resume into a spam bot any way. :(

No it's not the company, I've been getting the same friend requests.
I noticed a trend in "Amy" friend request, like every single person that friended me was Amy something, with no profile picture and like 30 mutual friends, but she had friends from all over the world. So I look to see how many Amys are on my friends list and there are like 15, so i just deleted em. Now i get all different names, usually either Jeniffer or something similar. And it's never and guys, only girls, and they primarily dot have pictures, but the ocasional one does.

Add them, write all over their wall, send them messages, and act like you used to be good friend with them.

Thanks everyone. I have nothing bad on my Facebook. I just don't want to accept them for the principle that if they are companies.. it bs.
