Full Tilt shell and liner staggering?

So i just got new classics from my local shop. all measured up and sized with a 29.5. or a 326 bsl.  However, and the fitter said this too, they are a little snug as my feet are right inbetween sizes.  We molded them twice while i was there and they still feel like my toe is pressing up against the liner....

anyways the shop didnt have any 30s or 30.5s and i would have to get them ordered so i was wondering... if i got the size 30 (335 bsl) is the liner the same size as a 29.5 in just a bigger shell? or is it a bigger liner too?  i cant really tell from the full tilt sizing chart. but i know the 30.5s would have a bigger liner as well as a bigger shell.

If anyone knows about what size the liners are in their respective shells, any input would be greatly appreciated!

pretty sure the size down from the half size has a thinner liner and the same sized shell. like 29 & 29.5 are the same shell, but the .5 has a thinner liner.

so to answer your question i'm pretty sure the 30 would have a larger shell and a thicker liner.

Does your fitter know how to punch and grind shells, or just how to put a liner on a stack?

Full Tilt boots change shells on the full size so a 30.0 and a 30.5 will be the same shell but different liners

i know that, but what im asking is if i get a size 30 will it have the same liner as the 29.5? or is the liner bigger too

Generally speaking, ski boots are 2:1 lasted (2 sizes per 1 shell). this means that a 26.0 & 26.5 use the same shell and 98% of the time the liner is exactly the same. FT changes the last of the whole size so it feels slightly tighter at first BUT once you heat mold the liner any difference vanishes. This goes for pretty much all liners.

So, when you are dealing with the same shell size in 2:1 lasted boots, after you heat mold the liners it's pretty much the same.

Take out the footbed. Half sizes will have a piece of rubber sticking up on the toe to make it a half size smaller. You can cut that off or cut out pressure points from it.

Sort of true. The FTi shells have a toe plug on them because they have one shell per 3 or 4 half sizes. The flexon shell does not have a rubber toe plug on them and increases every full size. So like almost all boots on the market, a 26 and 26.5 are the same shell.

Although the 26 will have a slightly thicker liner, after a few days of skiing (or a heat mold) it will have packed out as much as the thinner liner in the 26.5 and they will feel the same.

As far as modifying the rubber plug in the FTi shell, I guess grinding would be a possibility. I actually spoke with K2/FT Robbie the other day and he was very against modifying this piece. Not sure why.

Anyone know if last years shells are the same way? Will a 27 konflict or b&e shell fit the same as a 27.5?

Yes we do 2:1 sizing on boots and have dropped the option of the full sizes as it's simply redundant. If there's an option for a size 30 we'll guess you're looking at an older model boot. Assume that sizing would be the same as a 31.5. The 30's of the past have the same size shell as the 31.5. Hit up the CS guys at info@fulltiltboots.com for more. thanks.
