Just got mine out on Friday as well as getting my septum straightened.

Not going to lie, it sucks balls. Keep a humidifier running next to you at all times. Drink water. Keep up on your meds. Drink water. Don't eat anything fucked up (probably won't have an appetite anyway) drink more water. Otter-pops are your friends. Keep up on your meds, and drink water.

And remember, if your taking opiates keep the fiber/laxatives flowing.

i had it when i was like 14-16 or so (now 23).

when i woke up, everything was so fucking fine it wasnt even funny. everyone told me how bad i should actually feel and although i thought that i would get a little worse, i HAD NO FUCKING CLUE. was sippin tea like a boss, BUT BOOOOOOM

all of a sudden, the pain kicks in. it hurts, everything hurts. eating --> pain, drinking --> pain, swallowing --> pain, thinking about swallowing --> pain. and by pain i mean the getting raped by a giant scorpion version.

seriously, it hurts. you have to fight to convince yourself that you have to eat. what was worse for me was that i didnt responded too well to the narcotics and had to throw up until three days after the surgery. well throwing up in this situation --> pain. and by pain in this case i mean the getting raped by fucking godzilla version.

then, i spent 2 weeks at home playing playstation because it hurts. the pain eventually gets less and is not the problem, but the painkiller had side-effects and caused problems with my taste. oddly enough, only on one side. whenever i ate fresh, nice grapes for example they would taste like a blowjob from god on the one side of your mouth and like a fucking rape from a scorpion-godzilla bastard on the other side.

so yeah, thats my story. overall a very nice experience and i wouldnt want to miss a single bit of it.






















well that last line was a lie, but before that i got sick every two weeks and i can breathe way better now because my tonsills were as big as godzillas balls, so its better now.

when i got my wisdom teeth yanked, i lost over ten pounds due to just not eating.

The worst thing is not being able to sneeze. Holy god its almost unbearable.

Surprisingly, its not as bad as I was expecting though. I've had friends who have had just their tonsils, or just septum done, and they said it was the worst ever. I was expecting the perfect storm of face fucking, but Its been pretty mellow so far. Just have to keep up on my meds and shit. We'll see if that changes when I get the packing pulled out tomorrow.

I was supposed to have it all done on Thanksgiving also, but luckily got bumped up. Missing out on my Birthday boozing right now, but Ill give it up for Thanksgiving any day.

Found this online, you've probably seen it already but....

First off: Yes, tough guy, you need your mother or girlfriend to come take care of you for at least the first week after the surgery. There’s no driving yourself home after this one. In fact, the hospital won’t even let you. I definitely needed the wheelchair to get out of the recovery room.

Ice. Lots of ice.
Make sure your icemaker is full and your ice trays have frozen over before you leave for the hospital. You’ll want all the ice you can get, and then some.

The biggest single thing that we did right when I came home from the hospital was to get ice on the outside of my neck right away, and to keep it there for 48 hours in a pretty constant stream. This managed the swelling (and therefore the damage) that was done to the tissue throughout my neck. You’ll want to put ice packs around your entire neck, not just on the outside of where the surgery was done; the surgery will make the back of your neck sore as well… and you really don’t need any more pain.

I sucked on ice chips in a constant stream for the first four days. The few times that I tried to push it and consume somewhat solid food (chicken broth, yogurt, or mashed potatoes) were unfortunate experiences.

Drink until your eyeballs float.
They tell you this over and over again, but let me reiterate it — get the coldest non-acidic liquid drinks that you can get, and pour them down your throat in a constant stream. No straws. I like cold gatorade the best. You should drink about 16 ounces of clear liquid an hour. Fruit juice was too acidic for me and burnt m throat. Ensure worked great as a coating, especially when I needed to take medicines.

Don’t sleep.
The most important thing right off the bat for me was not sleeping. Mom let me sleep for an hour at the most. You need to stay hydrated as your first priority. If you sleep, you can’t stay ahead of the swelling and you’ll get hurt worse.

Don’t skip doses of painkiller.
If you accidentally sleep through a dose, you’ll be in a major amount of pain. Don’t do it. Stay hydrated, stay awake as much as you can, and take all of your medications at the right times.

Just an FYI, frozen corn or peas blow any ice packs out of the water. Go to Costco, get a huge bag of frozen corn/peas and divide it into varying sized bags.

i was only in town for a week to get it down. and i REALLY didnt want to get dry socket cuz i was going on the road for a week and a half for work. so i just didnt eat.

and no. i had it done this past august, and didnt gain it back till a week or so ago..

i dropped down to 155. i was 167 before the surgery
