Powder Ski Sizing

Hey So I am 6'3" and weight about 170 and was wondering if 184 sounded like the right sizing for a powder ski. I a also 15 and still growing if their are more questions I need to answer to get my question answered just let me know.

it depends wat you want, if you want it for more of a jib ski slashing and playing around maybe 184 but if you want to charge id go 194. The ski skis really short due to the three stage rocker and if you are going to centre mount em id go 194 for sure. Just my two cents

Well I want to be able to charge and be able to play around on them like going off some back country booters so what sizing and mounting would you recommend?

Id say 194 centre mount for sure. You will find the extra length will help you alot in your landings off jumps and drops stability wise and also it will allow you to charge too!

I know it seems like a long ski, when i bought my one lifes i had troubles buying it cause i thought 189 would be huge but im so happy i got the size i did

id say the px series (ones with dildo heel) are pretty cheap, durable and good binding. But if you wanted to spend 300 id say go fks or pivot for sure

Ya, I too am looking to get some new boards, I am 15 but I'm 5'7 135 lbs so if I get a czar would you put me in a 181?

But yeah, too bad it's hard to find a wide brake binding for under $200

Noah, you've skied for 5 days in your life and already have line blends...

you do NOT need powder skis...

Regardless if he has skied 5 days.... the kid wants a pair of pow skis. There is nothing wrong with that. I don't understand why there needs to be hate because a kid wants a pair of pow skis. Personally, I get him. If he does have line blends, they do the job, but they just are not as rewarding as full on pow skis. So you don't need to rip on him.

to the OP, for reference, I am 6' 2" 150lbs and I am purchasing 191 Surface Live Lifes. Hope that helps.

he can buy whatever he wants but im just saying that if he is an intermediate skier working on skiing blacks a powder ski would be a complete waste of money. especially when he already has great all mountain skis...

you should learn how to shred the whole mtn in any snow type before you start branching out into niche skis.


Otherwise you will have a really hard time learning how to ski properly, and will plateau in yourr progression a lot quicker.

This is my first year with a second pair of skis, and I've been skiing for over ten years.

Noah, just learn to shred on what you have, they're awesome skis and they aren't holding you back by any means.

My apologies, I looked too little into what you were saying. I would some what agree with this statement, but at the same time, I don't want to ski my 181 reno jibs in powder, plus I want to get into touring so I am going to cough up the cash for a set up that allows me to do that. I do see where you are going though, and I would agree that blends will definitely get the job done in pow, and it is a good ski, but if one wants to specialize, they need to get speciality equipment. If you are planning on skiing resort pow and park, the blends will serve you well. If you want to get into touring or backcountry, I would look into a pow setup. Those are my .02

Some may hate for what I've said but I hope what I have said helps in your decision making process.
