Please help with binding problem +k for help

So last week I bought armada ar7 skis at my local shop and today they took my skis to get mounted there. I filled out a form and they never asked me about where I wanted them mounted ( I know I'm stupid for not telling them where I wanted them mounted but when I bought and mounted skis last year they asked me where I wanted them mounted. What I'm trying to ask is, has this ever happened to someone? Did they just mount the skis or did they always ask what you wanted? + k for answers thanks

this happened to me once and they just ended up mounting them at recommended witch was true center on the invaders. if you know where you want them i would call them up before they start mounting them and let them know.

Has what happened? You're sentence structure is absolutely fucked, so it's hard to tell what you're actually saying/asking. I assume you're saying that your shop mounted you're skis wrong, and you're asking if this has happened to anyone else?

When I first bought my pair of twins, this same thing happened to me and the guy mounted it pretty far back ( classic mount, it was around 5 inches back -_-).  So now I clearly state and make sure the person knows where I want them mounted.  If I were you, I'd give them a call and let them know where you want the bindings to be mounted.

I forgot to tell them when I bought Volkl Ledges in '08. They mounted them at the only line on the ski which was center (thank you lazy shop guys). The ar7s have 2, within 2 cm of each other. Either way, I think you should be good. 2cm on a non-symmetrical ski is not even that noticeable (to me)

^^^ sorry I was in a hurry to get to work so I didn't worry about having good sentence structure. Let me start over. What do most shops do when you bring your skis in to be mounted? Do they ask you where you want them or do you write it down on a form? The guy I delt with told me to fill out a small box that showed general info like name, address, and height/weight he then took the form and took my skis out and said they would be ready in 15 min. I left to get a haircut while I was waiting and when I got back I was in a hurry to get to another shop at my local mountain. I was going to get my ft's heat molded because it was on my way home. After having the boots molded and getting home I looked at the ski and noticed it was 2.5 back from true center. I wanted my skis mounted true center and the shop set them 2.5 back. *Sparknotes I was never asked verbally or on the form where i wanted my skis mounted. Do your local shops ask you where you want your skis mounted or do they just mount them at factory settings everytime unless you tell them otherwise?

My local shop usually asks, but it's always good to say something. Depending on what binding you have and how much room they gave you, you can slide both plates forward, and that could give you up to about 1.5 cm

My bad yes it was 5 cm haha.  With the form, it really depends on the shop, every shop is different.  My shop does not have a form where there is a box for mounting as well.  What they did was they asked me where I wanted to mount my skis, gave me a black crayon and I marked my skis on where I wanted the bindings at.  They started doing this recently.  If you are not happy with the 2.5 cm mount you can talk to the people there and see if they will a) refund you a new pair of skis or b) give you your money back or even c) offer to remount, I wouldn't do that tho.  2.5 cm back is actually good for the Ar7's since that it is its core center where the ski will feel "centered".  It seems like my ski set up is similar to yours, 2011-12 Ar7s and Full Tilt (Hot Doggers?). Mine are at 2.5 cm as well.

Most shops will mount the skis at the "recommended" mounting point (which is usually a few centimeters back, unless you've got a true twin). If you want your skis mounted anywhere besides recommended, you should ALWAYS tell the tech, and tell him two or three times so he doesn't forget.

These days I even put sticky notes on my skis: two on the tips that say "TIP" and one at the mounting point saying "mount at true center." Too many bad experiences getting skis mounted backwards, etc.

Yeah one time I got my invaders mounted at true center, because they are symmetrical. Also because they are symmetrical, they mounted them backwards to the graphic. Didn't really matter, but I mentioned it and they offered to give me another pair of skis and remount them for me. The shops was Corbetts, totally recommend them.

That's pretty shit service. If you wanted them mounted dead center, you should of course have said so, but it can slip if you're in a hurry. They should have definitely asked where you wanted them. This seems to happen more and more, I don't get why the shops don't make sure they get it right. I mean, it's not exactly a new thing that people want most park specific skis mounted dead center, and I still hear of shops even mounting Afterbangs 2-3 cm back. I would present your problem to them, and hear what they can do.

I'm sure the guy will remount it for free, just gonna have to deal with the fact that your skis been drilled twice. if your 2.5 back you should have no problem plugging those holes and moving to true center.

ive ordered skis twice, with bindings and both times they returned with the wrong size, and such a badly measure i had to pay 50 bucks to remount em, this happened both times. AND I DID TELL THEM MY BOOT SIZE. 26,5 each time, and every time they came back wrong. /facepalm

Let's face it, the vast majority of ski shop customers have absolutely no clue "where they want their skis mounted"; they just assume that the bindings get screwed on the ski somewhere, and that's that. Unless someone has told the tech differently, he's just going to look for that recommended mounting point without giving it another thought.

If you want your bindings mounted in a specific way, it's your responsibility to make that clear. As far as I know, most park skis still have a recommended mounting point a few centimeters back from center (although true center may be marked on the ski, too).

Yes you can has +k and to the guy above who mentioned he had the same setup, thanks I never thought about how the ski isn't semetrical so I guess I'll leave it at 2.5 back. The reason I wasn't happy with my mount I was given was when I was givin the form I left my phone number and email and never got a call where I wanted the skis mounted. I can say that the shop was at fault because the guy who delt with me said he ran out of the store after leaving because he forgot to ask me where to mount them. He then drilled the holes knowing he had my phone number and left me not in the loop for where I wanted the skis. But anyways I guess I'll b fine with the mount. LET THIS THREAD DIE and plus k to all when I'm not on my phone

take your skis to a local bro there are or should be plenty. I mount out of my mancave for nugs quality vodka beer etc...

I dont drill till till we mark what you want and discuss previous hole conflicts etc. a lot of times I just help peeps dyi with my jigs templates etc

search craigslist local ski forums/etc for these homebrew skibum techs or if youmust use a big shop

WRITE MOUNT HERE IN BIG LETTERS

Can i haz +karma for telling you that you're in the business of providing a service, and that you provide a shit service when you don't make sure that you know where the customer want their skis mounted? It's as simple as asking them, and if you were a tech that cared a little, and had just basic knowledge of freestyle, you would know to ask. Seeing that you're the ones that get paid to do something, you should also make sure that you do it right, not the customer.
