Fat skis in the park?

what do you all think about riding fat skis for park?

i spent an entire season on 180 seths in Austria last year and loved them in the park... (i had revivals with me, but always stayed on the fat ones)

however... does this make me look like a clear dumbass, and what do you think the advantages/disadvantages are of riding said dumbass skis in the park?

The only thing that can make someone look like a dumbass, is someone not having fun on his skis.

I rode park on Line Elizabeths for a couple years and never had a problem looking stupid, I can do that on my own.

They are almost as wide as the Obsethed.

One of the coolest looks in the park is no poles, hellbents. Normally I'm not such a fan of no poles, but when its with fat skis, buttering all over the place, it's rather fresh. Observe.

That video is pretty cool, aside from the horrible quality. OP, i also skied my seths in the park a lot but i picked up a pair of a bangs so i didn't abuse the seths and now i really prefer them. It's all up to you though, just do what you have fun doing.

to try to answer your last question, conventional wisdom would suggest that a narrower park ski with a smaller waist would be more nimble/easy to control on rails. it would also tend to be lighter (easier to spin/tap/switch up) and maybe a bit more durable, given that it was made to take the abuse. also, symmetrical sidecut/dimensions/flex pattern make riding switch much easier. that being said, some people love a rockered ski for butters, find a flexier ski more playful, etc. so do what you like! nobody's gonna judge you as long as you rep it hard.

ski with whatever you want in the park - you have to follow your heart.

i've heard wiley miller uses his pro model in the park, symmetrical and 119 underfoot. i think that's pretty beefy

I ski blends in the park and they're pretty much perfect. I know they aren't super fat, but they're still a bit wider than your average park ski. I find wider skis to be really helpful for one-footed grinds. The only downside is that they have a little heavier swing weight.

yes! i forgot about that video! so good! for some reason hellbents are an amazing park ski, i only borrowed my friends for a couple runs one time but i was blown away by how good they were. everything i was doing on my 80 something waist park skis i could do on those, but it just like upped the style and smoothness x10. that and it opens up so many possibilities that you wouldnt think about with park skis, you can just hit and ski shit so differently.

ive skiied ep's in the park, while its a more fun pow ski, its definitely not as good in the park. ive skiied a bunch of mid fat skis, (95-110 waist) in the park, and still not that fun. for some reason hellbents just work.

if i ever have a bunch of money to waste, im buying some 179 hellbents for a pure park ski.

only ski i can think of that might be as good, or better is the bacons.

Yeah dude I rocked bacons for park last year. Rockin the new bacons for park this year. I prefer a wider ski though. It's not for everyone.

I've always wanted to try using a real fat ski in the park, I also remember some edit with a kid on hellbents in the park and he was ripping it up and he had a broken like arm, it was pretty sick

last year during an armada demo day i was riding jjs in the park and absolutely loved them (never hit rails). i did get some super funny looks thought but who gives a fuck waht others think.

i actually landed my first 360 on a park jump on hellbents a few years ago, super stable on landings as long as you dont go backseat

First time I skied Hellbents I hit a 5 foot drop into pow, and figured I should be back a bit (granted, they were first gens so not many rockered skis). I buttered/washed out immediately. Hellbents are fun, but you gotta be careful with them. Such soft flex and rocker.
