Oh I was just looking at how to make the friendship bracelet but it looked so hard! I learned how to do "macrame" (this is the name we give it in spanish...dont know if english is the same..)

And once you've got the chevron figured out this website is pretty good for explaining new patterns although I generally like making my own:

Just limit it to 'normal' patterns and 12 or so threads and they should all be fairly manageable.
