DSLR Cameras

Looking to know what the "best" is. I know a lot of cameras and was looking at a t3i or t2i and can get one for around 500, but is there any other really good filming dslr out there for less than 500??

The cheapest you can get a t2i is for 560 and that DOESN'T include a lens, or a tripod, or a mic or any kind of other stabilization. The MINIMUM you need a t2i, a kit lens and a decent tripod, which is more like 800-900. You can't do much with that, and thats 400 dollars more than what you want to spend. I think you need something else.

unfortunately he's right. you will most definitely not be able to find any dslr w/video cameras for under 500. and as eheath said, even if you buy a t2i, you will still have to spend hundreds more on lenses, tripod, filters, memory cards, etc.

figure on a $1000+ minimum budget for DSLR filming.

t2i is insanely cheap for the quality camera it is, youre not gonna find much better

well i know your right, but i already have a 500 dollar tripod, actually two of them. But filters are cheap, i have alot of memory cards and cable and what not. Also i would get lenses, but i would get them in time.  im not to picky on the lenses so one will do for a while until i get more money. and i have more than 1000 so i can "buy" a new t2i but i could settle for a used one for 480-500, with lenses. and is the xs and t3 and the others just for pictures an what about a nikond3100?

filters aren't cheap if you buy nice ones for lenses with large diameters.

you're not gonna be able to get a t2i for under 500 with decent lenses. but you can probably find a used tamron 17-50 f/2.8 for a decent price. i don't know anything about those other cameras.

Two photo ones but i DEF know where i can get a flycam or something for 170. and ima start small, you know? dont wanna get any crazy lences or filters. i have a nice camera shop close to me so access to that stuff is easy for me. in gernral is it good to get a t2i WITH lens used? or just get a new one with jsut the body and get a lens?

i wouldn't suggest any of the 3 other cameras you asked about. the xs has no video, the t3 kinda sucks featurewise, and the d3100 isnt very good either from what i've heard

i still am iffy on it, probably not. what are the tripods you have? do you have good enough memory cards? etc

if you have enough to buy a tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 in addition to the camera and you ahve an acceptable tripod for video, you will probably be set for a little while. t2i is really sick for video

You mentioned D3100, I have it so I'll give you my views.

Overall I give it a 6/10 for HDSLRs.

It doesn't have manual exposure while in live view and that can be a pain. It also doesn't have an audio input jack, nor does it have a 2.5mm jack for someting like a generic intervalometer. The kit lens it comes with (18-55) is decent, but when filming it can leave something to be desired. The fact that it's a Nikon will also limit your future choices of camera if you end up building a decent collection of lenses due to the fact that overall Canons are better for DSLR filming. I can also say some things about the sharpness and color problems I've had if you want. Just PM me or post back in here.

canon dslrs are much better for video than any nikon dslr, but nikon glass is better IMO :)



if you have a tripod and have money for lenses/cards/flycam then you can get a t2i with kit for like 700ish i think.
