im thinking about buying a pair but i want to hear from people which ski they think is better in everything that is NOT the park: like powder, groomers, varriable condition, ice, ect.. i already have ar6s from a few years ago so i can use those for park but they are getting a bit small for just rising around and actually skiing on.
I tested the ARV's and Blends last year over and over and eventually went for the Blend. It suits my ski style well and from what I've read, it'll suit your style aswell. I ski everywhere accept for the park (I may hit it, once or twice a season, maybe not that much)
Only have ridden the ARVs and I wouldn't trade them in foranything. They perform well in everything I take them through and would serve your purposes well. Looks like the only things your looking at should be early rise or no early rise and the fact that the ARV is a tiny bit skinnier underfoot. I love them even in a decent amount of pow, and personally if they're both the same price I would take the quality of Armada anyday. If the Blends are cheaper then I guess go with them if you really want a different feel as opposed to traditional.
I ride ARVs as my everyday non-park ski. I had to make the decisions between arvs and blends. I love my ARVs, i have them mounted at factory recommended, which makes them unreal at charging everything, through crud, a little pow, and ice, (im east coast). I rode them at mammoth for a week last year, and they were great (didnt have any real pow dumps, had about a foot on the first day and they worked well). But making the decision comes down to really one thing. Are you going to be more in the crud and ungroomed? or groomed and hardpacked? The early rise and slightly wider blend is going to rip on the looser snow and float a little bit better, but that said, the ARV wont be far behind. If you can demo them both.
Yeah what these guys said ^
I ride 75% pow 20% groomers and 5% park. If you're on the east coast of the States or anywhere where the snow is shite, go for the ARV, much more stable and tankish over the shit snow but not as good in the powpowpow!
Ive only ridden the blend but they are still an awesome ski. Not to much at all for the groomers but still enough ski to shred some pow and park if you want to. overall a good stick to ride, but yet again i don't have any idea how they compare to the ARV
Blends are definitely going to handle better away from the park. They are wider and have early rise in the tip and tail. I would go with the Blends for you. Much more versatile. And they cost exactly the same on Evo.com
Blends fosho. They are so much more versatile. I had them last year and they dominated everything. I have heard great things about the ARV's and Armada makes great skis but i honestly think youd be happier on the Blends.
