So I have been trying to improve the quality of my edits and i feel like this pre-season edit is one of my better ones. Please help me out with some feedback so i can keep improving more this season.
The biggest thing I noticed is it has no pacing and the cuts just don't fit with the song. You need to time your cuts to the beat of the music, and pace your video according to the dynamics of the song. Your edit sort of felt like a bunch of consecutive shots placed arbitrarily on a timeline. Watch a lot of good edits and you will start to see what I mean.
Just editing wise the fact that it was just shots put together made it so i couldn't really notice anything else so work on that, then try and find other issues to fix :)
A thing I really noticed were the super wide shots (I assume they are GoPro shots?) where the skiers/boarders jump over the camera are very dark and not really warm. When the you start using your footage from the other camera again at 1:36 it's a whole different video almost. Warm, rich colors, sunny etc. Maybe try to match them a bit better color-wise next time.
And also, maybe take a look at the exposure a bit. For example the shot at 0:41, take a look at the sky. Little bit overexposed, you could put a little bit more blacks in a shot like that.
Last thing:
The first shot: the guy in the yellow was a bit OOF and his shirt was REALLY blown out.
Overall it was a fun edit, especially the laughing guy at the beginning (0:12) was cool, looked like you guys had a lot of fun, and that's what it's all about, init? Keep it up!
You had too many shots that weren't really shots. If the rider does not stomp the ENTIRE rail, do not include it, no matter how good the filming was or whatever.
