that was pretty sick. i can rant for days on how this competition is flawed, but i wont.

i still hate the whole popularity contests and the whole "lets get 1000 likes and views and win" mentality.

I entered myself and i am hoping for sheer style of editing that I get a chance to win a prize.

Also they should let people edit their own footage, not just stock.

Editing theirs =/= editing your own

I don't know what exactly made that video that much more amzing than the others though. Your buddy seems solid with after effects and used a bunch of plugins, but it was a little overdone. That fake lens flare killed if for me. I thought that Mike had a better video to be honest.

I thought this video was solid. The best? maybe. I don't really care about winning, 2nd-5th place would be ideal since I have no desire to intern at CoC. Best of luck to your friend, and everyone else that entered. From a filmer's standpoint, I agree with abe: overedited. But the general skiing population seems to enjoy motion tracked text and twixtor.

Hahaha thanks for the tips. I mean I just got into editing stuff. Watched some of abekitzlevits' tutorials on saturday, downloaded after effects, watched tutorials all night, worked all sunday on finishing it up and I was all set. Im pretty much a rookie

I'm gunning for some vitamin water personally. I'm just shocked that COC is planning on selecting an intern without a demonstration of their filming abilities.

well yeah, but obviously vitamin water and oakley only care about editing skills, which im totally fine with.

And I bet the internship at CoC makes you the full-time editor. Which would be arguably the worst digital-video internship EVER.

It is about winning camp sessions, oakley stuff, vitamin water, and other swag. The internship job is the grand prize.

mad props on finally someone using twixtor without extreme warping, however it was still a little much and i don't mind the use of flashy editing like that. but im kinda bummed cuz i wanted to use that song this season :(

it is, will. i think i might post my entry to see what people think.

most of the edits are made from kids who just torrent final cut and spend time trying to make a "sweet" edit.

i really would like the chance to intern. im from illinois and am in college for cinema so this would really be my foot in the door.

yeah the contest is deffinitly flawed. they keep fucking changing shit too. first it was just only people that went and could enter (seemed fair to me), then the make it so anyone can enter, then move the dead line back a bunch etc. there are kids that went up there to film for the contest and then COC just gives everyone else raw footage that was shot on way nicer cameras... kind of stupid. but ill stop my self now before i get too into it.
