ski season is weeks away which means im getting new skis! im 6 feet 165lbs. and i do mostly park. I usually do a couple of pow runs and pretty much everything else too. Just wondering if you guys have any opinions on which ski you would recommend. +k thanks
If you want rocker+camber go with either the k2 recoil, on3p jeronimo, moment vice, liberty antigen or armada halos.
The recoils are probably the stiffest and they halos are probably the softest. I'm not sure about the flex of the antigen, all I know is that liberty makes super light and durable skis.
If you want a softer park/all mountain skis with regular camber
Take a look at the atomic patent and the k2 domain.
The domains have no camber while the patents have traditional camber.
If you want a stiffer ski with regular camber, take a look at the line step-up and the line chronic.
I figured you wanted a wider and/or rockered ski to float on powder, so I didn't list the ar7 because they are narrower. The ar7 is a great ski and they will be decent in powder.
Take a look at the salomon 2012s. There's quite a bit of rocker, so they handle quite well in the powder, but they're also super fun in the park. Designed as a park ski, but the salomon big mountain riders tried them out and were stoked. All of these skis are going to be good in the park, but my guess is that 2012s would be the best in pow out f the above options
i checked those out in a shop and they have a shit ton of rocker for a park ski, does it make it weird on jumps? even for butters i could see that being weird, its nice to have some flat-ness to press on and use to pop yourself out, rather than just like flex 90 degrees and fall over. but ive never skiied them so i dunno, they do seem fun as shit for a lot of stuff tho
For skiing powder, rocker will definitely help, but don't get something as narrow as the Halo. I bought dedicated powder skis because my Halos won't float for shit when I take them out west.
The Recoils, Blends, Bacons, Jeronimos, and Twenty Twelves all sound like they fit the bill nicely. The Chronics and AR7's are both awesome skis but I feel like their lack of rocker would make them sub par in pow compared to the others. If you think you'll be in the park with a rare pow day then any of the above would be great.
