holy shit i just found out that mcquery is not under any repercussions at all, he did the same thing joe did, he reported it to his boss.

and on top of that they are letting him coach on saturday!

that fucking pisses me off, and even more that i found out that he is the ginger, i loved that guy he was awesome, just lost all respect for him.

i still ask why the fuck did he not go to the police in the first place?

As horrific, disgusting, sickening, and just down right wrong this whole thing is, I wish they would stop repeating the same exact shit being said by different people 24 hours a day on ESPN, just like the Tiger Woods scandal. When new news breaks, let us know, but don't speculate and discuss it for every minute of Sportscenter.

Ya he did do the same thing as JoePa its fucked, he should be gone. I guess there is something that is not allowing him to be fired, im not sure what it is or if this is true just what I have heard.

Joe Paterno was the scapegoat for the media as a big name for Penn State. Why does a coach get fired who reported it to his higher-up, just like McQueary did to Paterno?
Especially before his last ever home game and final season of a legendary career?

Even coming into question is how much Paterno really knew, because of how vague the McQueary was to Paterno.

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Due to multiple threats made against Assistant Coach Mike McQueary, the University has decided it would be in the best interest of all for Assistant Coach McQueary not to be in attendance at Saturday's Nebraska game.



this is what the university said last night.

and about the rioting, i think it was a complete disgrace to joe, and the university as a whole.

a peaceful protest would have been fine, but pushing vans over and smashing windows just wasnt needed.

especially after paterno asked for peace.

Been an interesting week here on campus. Still aggravating to see many people post/express their feelings that truly don't have the information or experience to make claims (not so much here as across the media). It is becoming better as the public is becoming more informed and rumors are passing.

Nonetheless, atmosphere on campus is still bizarre. People still in shock and definitely not back to normal. The friendliness and openness of students on campus is still reserved and god is it awful to talk to the football players who are hurt and utterly confused as to how the program can be crumbling around them.

All in all I have a better outlook on what is going on now. I agree with the dismissals of president spanier and mr joepa. I don't believe it was handled properly, but the BoT had to make a decision swiftly and that they did.

As for the rioters, come on seriously? Let's harm our public view even more by going out and making ourselves look like a bunch of idiots on national tv. I for one am not reserved and can generally be found trashed wednesday through saturday night. But come on?

Class is ending so I will return when I have more time.

No he's probably just the first one to actually read the indictment. This issue is about 1% opinion and 99% knowing the facts, most PSU supporters in here (you would likely fall into this category if I knew who you were) have been spouting off complete bullshit and giving nothing BUT their (totally misguided) opinions.

I go to penn state man and why the fuck would i be ashamed? Means nothing about the caliber of people who go here or the values and ideals of our university. My fellow students and I are more proud than ever to be at Penn State and our pride and passion has only grown in the last few weeks. I feel bad you don't get to be a Penn Stater and have the feeling of being part of a university that stands for more than football. I hope this message shows everyone on NS that Penn Staters are not embarrassed about what happened. Instead, we want to support the victims and prove that our university has and always will be one of the greatest in this nation and the university with the most pride and passion for our alma mater.

it's all necessary if they want to rebuild a program. It's necessary if the NCAA wants to make an example. The nature of this situation or any similar situation is NOT accepted and severe punishment will happen. To people saying this isn't a football scandle; you are mistaken and I feel sorry that you believe more in football than the safety of children.

It sucks for the coaches, trainers, equipment managers and players that didn't have any part in the scandal. Seems more like a selfish act on paterno and Sandusky for covering it up without the thought of what sort of impact and collateral damage it will have of they were to be caught.

I feel like the NCAA overstepped here, like their sanctions don't do anything useful. Like think about it, the punishment is/has been dealt in the criminal courts, the people responsible will receive the proper punishment and pay their debts. Then what is the point of this nonsense on Penn State as a whole which punishes the players, the athletic trainers, and even the students? Like if anything these people should be considered victims from being under a corrupt leadership that they had no part let alone knowledge about. Instead of being treated like victims they are being treated like criminals, as the NCAA is saying the entire football program should be held responsible for the actions of a few individuals given their ruling.

There is no question the crimes committed were heinous, and they should and will be punished severely in criminal proceedings. But to punish the entire organization is the most pointless overzealous punishment they could of done. Like what lesson does the NCAA want the world to see from this, that if you have corrupt leadership you should be held responsible for things you had no control or knowledge about?

Pretty dumb imo.

this will have a huge impact on students (tuition hikes) and the community. Thank god they didnt get the death penalty, that would have seriously fucked over that entire community and even surrounding towns.

that is how a normal person thinks, but that is not what will happen. Tuition at Penn State has gone up every year since 1999 above the inflation rate and this wont help.

See, most people, believe it was all Sandusky and Paterno (that's what the media puts in the headlines, and wants you think, it sells more papers and advertising!!) The fact of the matter is that three other men, Gary Schultz, Tim Curley, and Grahm Spanier all played a roll in this as well, and deserve punishment too, people at the second mile knew, and part of the board of trustees knew (some are starting to resign). So know this, there was a lot more to this to Sandusky and Paterno, and there was a lot less of the entire university, they've cleaned house, everyone being affected now is innocent, just like the children.

Actually it still will, fining 60 million, along with the hundreds of millions they will already pay in civil suits, along with the money for the Freeh report, along with so much shit the media and everyone else has thrown on this town. This university will be lucky to walk away not losing more than a quarter of a billion dollars. The town is still pretty fucked, hundreds if not thousands of jobs will be lost. Tuition will go up, much more is to come. I'll be lucky if I still have my job there, and can afford to go to school there.

Working in the university I can tell you this. To fund the entire athletics program (lacrosse, tennis, soccer, etc.) and pay salaries of people outside of those departments, Penn State needs football. (Basketball just barley breaks even, basically pays for itself). The only revenue comes from the football program. You take that money away, and now taking the ability to be competitive away, money stops flowing, and all of those things listed above will happen. State College is pretty fucked, the economy here is about to take a turn for a worst, and I, along with 45,000 other people had nothing to do with it.

may I ask why? Its one thing to make an example of the university, but that would have fucked over hundreds of businesses in state college and surrounding communities. The death penalty would do absolutely nothing for anyone except fuck students over.

This is basically equivalent of the death penalty. Yes Penn State will be on the field next year and for years to come, but they won't be competitive. To me, and I live here, work here, etc. This isn't about Saturday afternoons in autumn. It's about the money it generates Sunday morning, and they're taking that away too. Like I also said, with civil suits, Penn State is going to lose so much money that it will have to come out of the community that is already losing money because the team won't be competitive (less ticket sales, less hotel sales, less restaurant sales. It all trickles down to people like me, that will either lose their jobs or have the money out of our wallets go to Penn State because the NCAA took money when there was already hundreds of millions being taken (through civil suits).

Because it's a great academic school and still is. I can get a degree for a great price living here and having parents that work there. I'm not going to deny something heinous happened here, I'm not even going to defend Paterno, he had a role in it. I'm defending the people that had nothing to do with this, and the university for the great institution it is, all of it, they cleaned house, no one here had anything to do with this.

A school full of sick fucks was your post before, now saying its good. It is a good school, not just about the kids, and we aren't all pedophiles, even though the media may make you think that, and the penalty could not have been much worse honestly, the team will be crippled for at least a decade, and along with it revenue Penn State needs to keep faculty and other athletic programs, that again, had nothing to do with this.

I go to a branch campus of penn state. The reason that I choose to go there is because it has a good academic program and i can commute from home to save money, since my parents arnt in a financial situation where they can help me out a lot. I hope this doesnt affect tuition too much or I will have to go somewhere else, probably a school that is not nearly as good.
