It is hard to defend anyone in this situation. The circumstances are very hard to understand and we don't have all the facts by any means. A lot of Penn State grads in my family and since i was a kid i always wanted to go to PSU.
From what I understand, which could easily be false, Joe Paterno wasn't notified of what clearly happened as he said in his interviews. He was told that "something" happened. He was not told that sexual abuse had just gone on in the bathroom. He was told by McCreary (sp?), the witness, that he saw something bad happen in the bathroom with Sandusky. Paterno supposedly had no reason to go directly to the police and he did go to his superior with the information he was given. The AD brought in the board who began the investigation. If what I was told is true than Paterno shouldn't be blamed for this. He acted well on what he was aware of. Paterno claims that he didn't have any real reason to go directly to the police because he was unaware of the severity of the actions, or really any specifics whatsoever.
If it comes out lthat Paterno knew specifically what happened than he should have broken the command and gone straight to the police. He went to his superior which is acceptable but he should have gone to the police in that statuation
Go Penn State. Fuck Nebraska.
