Why does your job suck?

I've never hated a job more than this one, in the oilfields in north Dakota
We're on night shift, 12 hour shifts, in 15 degrees and 40mph winds for the last week
Cold and wet all night and the shelter they give us is an unfurnished horse trailer with no electricity, heat, or light
All the management is fucking dumb. I hate everyone!
I'm quitting in two weeks though

This is either a rant thread I guess, or looking for some people I can relate to and form a NS support group to raise morale

I can't really say my job sucks. I do work all alone though sometimes, it gets boring.

Frac support, I pump water from a storage pad to where the frac is, so I hook up tanks and empty them, then switch to the next tanks and back semis up to the empty ones to fill them in the meantime.
At least I'm busy I guess

I make about 2 grand (at 100+ hours) a week, which is easy up here, if anyone wants a job, head to Dickinson or Williston! Housing is a problem, big time! Jobs everywhere though, you'll be working within a couple days

i work in a frame shop and make pictures all day and my boss lets me listen to wu-tang and all rap because he likes wu-tang. So i love my job...... sorry

I live in an apt, usually we have work trucks on the locations, the trailers are provided when 'we don't have enough trucks' they wouldn't let an rv onto the site, a whole lot of douchebaggery out here

i make minumum wage ($7.50) an hour for cleaning mountains of dishes and taking food and plates to parties. My boss is often drunk, and sometimes pays me drunk so i get more or less than i really should. oh and im 14 and ive had this job all summer

I love my job now, and I love my job in the winter.

currently getting paid way too much to fill in my breaks at school and get paid 23.50/hour doing practically nothing.

winter I get to ski almost all day and get paid for it, and when there's an injury I get a very rewarding satisfaction of helping someone out. win win win.

only problem is that I don't and can't work nearly enough hours.

I do not like it because I clean the construction site in the mud all day long. But at least I work as many hours as I want and I just work the summer so I can ski all winter long.

Um, my job doesn't suck on the whole. But like all jobs sometimes it does. Like working 12 hours on a Sunday trying to find an answer to something that has no answer. But even that has its upside, like it's challenging and the issue is interesting.

i worked in VENEZUELA for a MONTH on CONSTRUCTION working 5AM TO 5PM making $2 an hour!

I WIN WITH THE WORST JOB!!!!

but now im a busser/host at a 4 star restaurant so im straight chill

I push carts for my local store.  It sucks when its busy, we're pushing in 20-30 carts at a time, working in the hot 95 degree weather and the managers dont allow us to take water breaks.  they dont even give us a cooler.  it sucks but im making 8/hr.  sure as hell pays the ski bills

I don't hate my job, cause I do help people and it feels good. But, I answer phone calls for a health insurance company, and talking to foreign providers and ridiculous self righteous people can really get on my nerves, and get old and makes me want to smash faces.

I just hate work in general, but my job isn't so bad besides having to deal with deal with a few store managers who have what I call a "prince complex", they don't have a whole lot of power in deciding what direction the chain will go, but they have the power to say no to salesmen so they do, even if its not in the store's best interest. you have to fucking baby them even tho they're 20 years older and have no business education bc they are actually dumb enough to just blow off a profitable opportunity only bc they're busy or having a bad day.

I have three. Plus 13 credit hours this semester.

I shoot and edit photos for the University of Wyoming, I love it. I get to edit photos and sit on NS and facebook when i'm not out on assignment.

Also, bartend at a local bar. Make $400plus usually per week. I get drunk for free. Worst thing about it is the hours..

And I work ten or so hours at Quiznos, it's gross, min. wage. Shitty boss. Quitting as soon as season starts up, so in two weeks or so. I'll miss making over $1000 a month and going to school. it's sick.

Ok I have a good one for you guys. I used to work as a financial advisor for a major bank. like one of the biggest in the U.S.

My job was real simple - get on the phone or get out there in person and solicit business. AKA bring in new clients and their money to the company.

On a daily basis, my only role was to cold call people and businesses and try to convince them to come in or set up a meeting to discuss managing their money. Cold calling, for those of you who don't know, is basically like opening up a phone book and just dialing every single number in it and trying to sell your services to complete strangers. It doesn't work at all, it's miserable, and it makes you feel like shit.

On top of that, every 3 months, my salary was cut 25% because of all the commissions I was supposed to be making from new clients and new money coming in (yeah, didn't happen at all).



Resigned in mid-october, realized I absolutely LOATHE financial services and sales, and starting in the spring I'm going to grad school to do a master's in accounting so I can be a CPA upon completion of that and the CPA exam. If you hate what you do, make a change before it's too late.

I work for Leitner-Poma building chairlifts. We are currently installing the new chairlift at mount snow. We work 12 hour days 7 days a week. Rain or shine. (or snow) it's cool because I get to work on the mountain and learn about ski lifts, but it's a lot of hard, dirty work . I just can't wait until its done and I can ride it lol

I work at a restaurant part time now; usually make at least 10/hr in tips plus 9 or 7.35/hr wage depending if i'm serving or not. feels good to walk out with 90 bucks cash after four hours of 'work'. love it, but it's starting to get slow so the hours aren't as good at the moment. Restaurants can be a real downer of a job, but if you get the right place with the right people it can be a great way to make decent money with minimal input.

I go to school full time and I always hear kids in my major complaining, saying they should've just stayed back home in north dakota and made 50K+ per year on the oil fields with their deadbeat high school friends. If you're all about the money--sure, do it. Too bad your quality of life is absolute horseshit and you have no time to actually do anything with all the money you're making. With that said, it is a good way to save up a bunch and move on to something way cooler afterwards.
