Perhaps he wants a nice wide angle, he clearly doesn't seem to have much interest in the 24-105.

i mean, 24 is WIDE on a 5d, equivalent to a 15 on a 7d/t2i. 17 is ULTRA wide, pushing fisheye (10.6 on a 7d/t2i) on a 5d. So if he wants a very wide lens, the 17-40 would be good, but the 24-105 is already a very good wide to tele lens.

I dont need the IS on it at all though. I might end up getting a 24-70 with the money I make from it, who knows

the 24-105 is my next purchase on lenses hands down.

but on that note i cannot afford anything right now, just really wishing i didn't have to pay for college

Now I love my 24-105L, but I must say this, It kindof is an impractical range on a crop sensor, being about a 40-160 (quick estimate).

Other than than, amazing lens, I have no complaints. Perfect for mid-range tripod work.

its the perfect mid-range to tele zoom lens on a crop for tripod work. a bit tight for a glidecam tho, but I've seen it been done

im sure its not the best, but i still think it would be perfect for me,

ive got a 50 1.8 and sigma 10-20

and kit but who cares that lens is awful
