Rivaldo was fined $7300 USD for faking an injury that resulted in the other player getting a red card. The Brazillian team calls it intelligent soccer, and admits having 'duped' officials similarly in the past.

This pisses me off beyond belief. Fans don't pay big $$ to see this kind of intelligent soccer. I think he should been suspended for 2 games (equal time for a red card).

Well the other player only got a yellow card, he already had a yellow so two yellows and you get a red, tho I think Rivaldo is a pussy and a faker, the other guy still should have got a yellow for that.

i play soccer and every year our team watches this video of a game we played about 5 years ago. our team is really aggressive and we were killing the other team...so the coach started having his players fake injuries. at one point one of us sort of nudged one of them in the knees and she fell over and started crying....grabbing her OTHER knee....its so funny to watch now

I didn't actually see the hit, I just read about it.
I realise that faking has now become part of the game, but it SHOULDN'T be. I have played soccer for 17 years, and I never faked an injury. I don't think that just becaue they are pros the game should be different. Soccer is supposed to be about fair play.

faking injuries is a major problem in the game but it's almost a part of it now. Rivaldo is an amazing player either way.

Yah, every single pro level sport has insane diving and acting... I also have polayed soccer for 10 years, and I never dove. The only time i'll go down is if something seriously happens. However, until you can find refs that can tell if it was an actual foul, or a dive, you're S.O.L.

Yeah, it is in every sport, but it has never resulted in suspensions in other sports though. When I read the article, I was under the impression that it was an unwarrented red card.
'The referee immediately branded Unsal with a red card, drawing a negative reaction from the crowd and the press as the incident was replayed on the stadium's giant screen.' Maybe I should be complaining about crappy media!

he was really clumsy. come on the ball hits his leg he acts like he was hit in the face, millions of cameras going, he thought noone would see it, or he just cared about the game itself?

but fine him for 7300dollars, come on he probably makes that kinda money playing one single game with his team, it´s nothing for him, suspend for 1-2games, that´s the way to go about it.

what rivaldo did was fucking disgracefull, especially as the world reveres the brazilians for playing the best football in the right way, unfortunately diving is apart of the game now, its even coming into the english game and it shouldnt be, i agree the turk should have been booked but he should have been sent off for the tackle that gained his first yellow when he slayed ronaldo, but rivaldo should also have been sent off as the linesamn was right next to him, its such a shame cos rivaldo is abrilliant player and brazil played bueatifully that day
i just watched the frqance uruguay match and a player called silva was absolutley disgraceful in his dives and fouls its sucha ashame at such a good world cup

yeah man what he did was shit. i taped the game b/c i was out and watched it later...that's pathetic. to be honest, if you wanna see violent soccer go watch high school intramurals...much better shit.

Dude, we have the World Cup of Hockey for our floor hockey intramurals. Last year the Czech Republic won, (that was my team!!!)
We have music, warm ups and almost the whole school comes to watch the games! I even got hoisted by a mob when we won 2-0 in the final! The first time thats ever happened. You know its intense when...

The France \ Uraguay game was pretty bad too. Is it me, or are all the South American teams dirty like that. I guess that's why most of their players go play in Serie A.
