i think it sucks modest mouse didnt blow up the wat tgey deserved to, but the lead singer of modest mouse has got as good a voive as the guy from soundgarden/audioslave

Isaac Brock is like my biggest idol. I wouldnt call his voice under-rated, like all the fans are in love with his lisp they just aren't incredibly popular to the music public other than in the indy scene. Plus some of their songs that are 99% instrumental can be their best. I like his voice a ton, but i'd say it's their unique style of guitar and bizarre instruments they use in certain places that gives them the appeal I like. Moon and Antarctica definitely my favourite album.

Ive been changing my usernames to match my favorite albums, so it is rather funny that this thread is to come up....sadly Lonesome Crowded West is to long of a username ha ha. Funny thing you should talk about his voice. I took my gf to see them back in may and she was like "its rad how he doesnt have a ear piece in" I just laughed cause I could never see Isaac having an ear piece in. Isaac has been through a lot of shit in his life...hes just a raw motherfucker.

Edit the sad parts and talking shit about a pretty sunset are my favorites.

Their new stuff is still good, but nothing tops Lonesome Crowded West.

Dude, if it was not for float on well over 3/4 of this thread would have never heard of them. We as modest mouse fans live with float on...its like the friend nobody likes...but at the end of the day you have to acknowledge it exists.

yeah hes great and all, until I saw him perform so drunk/high/fucked up that he couldnt put more than 2 words together. He stood there and smoked a cigarette during the first half of Ocean Breathes Salty and proceded to mumble the rest of it.

I still think Modest Mouse is great and listen to a few of their songs every once in a while, but I will never see them live again, maybe he just had a bad night.

Float on is probably their best song by far. And I've listened to all the songs on this thread and most of their albums. Float On is by far the best song they've ever composed.

Probably incredibly unnecessary to post the whole album. But it was the first Modest Mouse album I bought.

Not at all. It's about quality not a hipster thing. People were listening to modest mouse way before me. But I still enjoy the fuck out of albums that cam out years before I'd ever hear them.


Doesn't matter if you started listening to them a week ago. Float on is def not their best song. I mean music is subjective and all but come on, Float on Really really?

I saw them at UVU probably 4 years back (mormon land utah) and was really dissapointed with the show.

then they did that free concert in pioneer park in salt lake, yea the one like 40,000 people showed up to and it was fuckin epic. luckily we pushed all the slc hipsters out of the way to get close to the front.

speaking of float on!

Every time I see them it's a gamble. I wonder to myself which Isaac I will see, but I am still stoked cause I attribute this band in helping me cope with depression. They went through a period where Isaac could give a fuck about the show and just fight with his bandmates. Both Eric Juddy and Jeremiah Green have taken hiatuses from the band due to that. One of my favorite things about Mouse shows is hearing to Isaac drunkenly ramble about random shit from snakes, carnage, baby sitting, and my favorite free bird.


Yes float on is their best "POP" song to date. It has everything a radio friendly song needs, cathy positive chorus....but is it Mouse fans favorite? no.

Everyone should listen to the early version of float on, it's raw. Just youtube "float on early version live at the showbox". Those who also wanna hear one of the rarest modest mouse song youtube "jawbreaker song"...I warn you though it is isaac brock in his prime.
