our tax code doesn't include the taxation of capital gains. therefore, the investors on wall street who are partly to blame for the current economic state, are able to avoid taxation of what is their income. hence the name "occupy wall street"

sorry my mistake. however, it is no secret that the these capital gains are taxed less than normal income. plus, with lawyers and accountants, the super rich are able to find loopholes and nearly avoid all taxation. i should have been more specific.

It's relative to their income. The more they make from capital gains, the more it is taxed.




Pretty much anybody is able to avoid almost all taxation, it just depends on what you're willing to do.


I have plenty of friends who's parents make "30,000'' dollars a year.

The rich certainly have far more resources to do so (money to afford accountants who are masters of such things). And that is exactly the problem; people (specifically the rich) are able to avoid taxation.

I understand it is relative to their income, but the rates at which they tax capital gains are taxed are significantly less than income tax. Therefore, investors making large sums of money are taxed less than those who make less. What sense does that make?

Mabey if the government didn't take up to 50% of their salaries in some states the rich would be less pro to evading taxes not to mention its a small minority of rich people who break the law to evade what about 40% of US citizens who pay NO federal income tax at all.... How about broadening the tax base?

That shit was hard to watch in my grade 10 english class. I probably should have cried though, the chicks would think thats adorable.

it's always been about connections. If you are tight with your neighbor who works at company X and you're trying to get a job, then your neighbors boss will trust his opinions on this close friend way more then some rando with a degree off the street.
