Judge William Adams Caught Beating Daughter on Video

A video of Judge William Adams hitting his daughter with a leather belt is sending outrage across the online community. Adams is currently the Aransas County (Texas) Court-At-Law Judge.

According to the description of the video, which was signed by the judge's daughter Hillary Adams, the girl was beaten "as punishment for using the internet to acquire music and games that were unavailable for legal purchase at the time."

"Judge William Adams is not fit to be anywhere near the law system if he can't even exercise fit judgement as a parent himself. Do not allow this man to ever be re-elected again. His "judgement" is a giant farce. Signed, Hillary Adams, his daughter," the description says.

Judge Adams' office has yet to respond for comment, and so it cannot be confirmed that he is the man in the video, but Gawker spoke to Hillary Adams' friend J. Andre Bardin, who said that Adams and his wife were the ones in the video.

"I know in the article you say you cannot confirm the man in the video is him, but I can. It's him," Bardin said. "That's his voice, that's his mannerisms, and that is his house."


No matter who is in the video, it is shocking and disturbing. It is filmed with a hidden camera in the girl's bedroom, and shows the father verbally and physically abusing his daughter. Early into the clip, the girl's mother comes in and begins shouting and threatening the girl as well.

Judge Adams says to his daughter, "I'm going to beat you into submission," and "Get on your stomach like a grown woman!" among other things.

The person who uploaded the video urged viewers not to blame the mother.

"The judge's wife was emotionally abused herself and was severely manipulated into assisting the beating and should not be blamed for any content in this video. The judge's wife has since left the marriage due to the abuse, which continues to this day, and has sincerely apologized and repented for her part and for allowing such a thing, long before this video was even revealed to exist," YouTube user "shoehedgie" said.

The video was taken in 2004 and uploaded in October. Aransas County did not return phone calls for comment and Judge Adam's office phone has been disconnected.

seems like a statistical result that "spanking" is more common in the US than over here.

not like i talk too much with anybody about that, but its my impression



all this "i had this and that and still got a good person". its not like you would be a totally different person.

the fact remains that you fear the spanking and not the reason for the spanking. and from when on can a kid distinguish between right and wrong effectively?

bullshit. a fuckin relict of the 1800s or so.

You might change your mind when you actually have them. Not saying you will, but its much different when they're physically there and not just a figment of your imagination. And you might find that you're able to raise them without having to lay a hand on them.

I think the problem is your failing to see the line between a spanking and what happened in the video above.

I never said they gave me a little pat on the ass, they hit me pretty hard but they did relentlessly beat me. It also wasnt for shit like downloading something illegal (mind you i wasnt downloading anything when i was at the age where i was getting spanked) it was for me doing stupid stupid things. Im going to be honest i was a little shit head when i was a kid, if i saw a kid behaving like i did sometimes id say hell yea give him a spanking. I can remember a few times specifically where my parents would threaten to take away my gameboy or my N64 (two things that i loved by the way) and i would be so angry in my tantrum that i just would not give two shits, at that point i would get a spanking and that would usually do the trick. And the punishments of no tv or video games would remain after the spanking was given. Eventually i learnt to just avoid the spanking and straighten up when my parents told me the first time.

I literally had a hard time watching that video, to be honest i fast forwarded alot of it because i couldnt stand watching the girl get treated like that.

I just disagree when you say hitting a kid is wrong no matter what, a spank or a little slap on the back of the head has it place. What happened above does not.

I honestly just think your being stubborn in your point of view. You and i were raised in different ways and as such our opinions on things are going to differ. I just think you would love your parents just as much as you do now if they had spanked you as a kid. Also i think the reason you think hitting a kid is soo "twisted" is because you were never spanked as a kid, had you been im certain you would realize that its not that bad.

and to all of you who got spanked and think its great to do so, just open your mind a little. i did too and wondered if physical punishment would be better than psychological pressure. maybe thats the case but WHY DONT USE EITHER?

crazy how teachers in a lot of states are allowed to dish out physical punishment, when in a lot of european states, it is even forbidden for parents to do so.

cultural is maybe the wrong word.

what i wanted to say is that it is (or better, its non-existence), to me, a sign of advanced civilization. for example, in canada, physical punishment is not allowed in schools.

i dont even care THAT much about the parents-kids relation, but teachers spanking kids is 1920 at its finest.

i know its utopic to think of a world without violence. but it is possible, and anyone with a gram of brain mass knows that violence never solved a problem. and this is starting at the education of kids.



i know you wouldnt call it violence but "spanking", but thats really only a terminology thing.

everyone has to do what he thinks he wants to, but i think that humanity has come a long way and when you look at those countries' reputations: sweden, germany, norway, austria. i think that its saying something when they outlaw parental physical punishments.

however were not really talking about teachers spanking kids. thats a crime. period.
no one touches my kids, regardless.
physical abuse. also a crime.
spanking, not a crime.


also, just because many european countries have outlawed physical punishments does not mean that those outlaws necessarily get followed.
i know for a fact that smoking marijuana in north america is illegal, and yet a hefty percent of the population still participates in routinely smoking it.
technically downloading music is illegal, yet as we found out in this video, people still do it.

advancment to me is not just simply having a rule in place, it is society actually understanding and following that rule.

that is right. and from my experience and what i read on here, its actually less common than in north america.

but to me, laws have some sort of signal function, regardless of whether or not they are obeyed or not. its not a surprise that southern states in the US still allow teachers spanking kids.

with the same reasoning and taking into account what france stands for, it was a surprise to see that france allows teachers that too.



and for who are more on my side, i would like to put out again that psychological pressure might also result in severe problems as an adult. its also some sort of violence and just because you didnt get beaten, it doesnt mean that there was everything alright.



to end this: my opinion is that you shouldnt spank kids. educating them and requiring them to recognize wrong and right by themselves and not relying on an external institution (parents) to do so would be "my" recipe. although i guess that if someone does it consequently, and is not using that as a starting point for harder/tougher punishments in the future and is not doing it because he thinks its fun, then i have not that big of a problem.

I can't believe some of the comments in here though. People can't believe she didn't fight back, she deserved it because it's her parents?
Getting beaten with a belt repeatedly and told to "take it like a grown woman" by both parents is not "punishment" that's abuse. Parents are supposed to teach you and nurture you, not scare you and beat you into submission over downloading something. She's 16, not a child. For people saying they were spanked as a child and turned out fine, how old were you when you were spanked? 16? I don't think so. Spanking is one thing [and i have nothing against it] , but beating is another. If he's already whipping her repeatedly with a belt what's to stop him from slamming his fist into her face one day?
I can understand where she's coming from, videotaping this and making it viral. after years of being beaten, she's obviously physically incapable to stand up to him, why not show the world who he really is? ruin his life. These are the people we're supposed to grow up respecting and admire, they're supposed to protect us.

line between abuse and discipline of a child is not becoming in question here its that this judge a guy who is supposed to be handing out punishment loses his temper like a 4 year old
