Judge William Adams Caught Beating Daughter on Video

A video of Judge William Adams hitting his daughter with a leather belt is sending outrage across the online community. Adams is currently the Aransas County (Texas) Court-At-Law Judge.

According to the description of the video, which was signed by the judge's daughter Hillary Adams, the girl was beaten "as punishment for using the internet to acquire music and games that were unavailable for legal purchase at the time."

"Judge William Adams is not fit to be anywhere near the law system if he can't even exercise fit judgement as a parent himself. Do not allow this man to ever be re-elected again. His "judgement" is a giant farce. Signed, Hillary Adams, his daughter," the description says.

Judge Adams' office has yet to respond for comment, and so it cannot be confirmed that he is the man in the video, but Gawker spoke to Hillary Adams' friend J. Andre Bardin, who said that Adams and his wife were the ones in the video.

"I know in the article you say you cannot confirm the man in the video is him, but I can. It's him," Bardin said. "That's his voice, that's his mannerisms, and that is his house."


No matter who is in the video, it is shocking and disturbing. It is filmed with a hidden camera in the girl's bedroom, and shows the father verbally and physically abusing his daughter. Early into the clip, the girl's mother comes in and begins shouting and threatening the girl as well.

Judge Adams says to his daughter, "I'm going to beat you into submission," and "Get on your stomach like a grown woman!" among other things.

The person who uploaded the video urged viewers not to blame the mother.

"The judge's wife was emotionally abused herself and was severely manipulated into assisting the beating and should not be blamed for any content in this video. The judge's wife has since left the marriage due to the abuse, which continues to this day, and has sincerely apologized and repented for her part and for allowing such a thing, long before this video was even revealed to exist," YouTube user "shoehedgie" said.

The video was taken in 2004 and uploaded in October. Aransas County did not return phone calls for comment and Judge Adam's office phone has been disconnected.

Ah, my bad. I would say that is a fair statement then. I was getting a little annoyed at the things I was reading, wondering if people really thought that removing oneself from a situation like that is like ripping a band aid off.

right, the man who invented the segway is 100 years behind the rest of the world and stupid...but I digress.

I'm saying that discipline from our parents generation to ours has changed drastically. Am I saying what the man did was right? No. I'm saying that it used to be a lot worse off for kids back then than it is now (punishment wise for all you people that love taking things out of context). Chill out.

you guys are such a bunch of fucking primadonnas it's not even funny. so what, the guy whoops his kids ass for doing something ILLEGAL AS FUCK. it was a little excessive, yeah, but everybody crosses the line once in awhile. the FUCKED UP part is that the mother joined in.

if one parent is going to beat the shit out of a kid to teach a lesson, the other parent has to be there as the voice of reason. otherwise that kid's gonna be fucked up

But the point is that as a society we've moved on from thinking that's acceptable treatment. I don't really see how saying that the older generation had it worse is relevant. You may as well go back in time a little further, when women were treated like objects and had no rights at all - that was accepted as normal then, but so what? It isn't that way anymore.

ok, so let me get this straight...

the girl downloaded some music and games to a computer illegally...

her dad found out and whipped her ass, illegally...

you find out and think he should be KILLED???...

what makes you better than him? assuming he hasn't killed her yet, i think his logic is more sound than yours.

I'm not condoning what happened in that video, it's fucked up, but you're on the same level or lower than he is. go fuck yourself.

In some child abuse trials her dad (the judge) rulled that you couldn't take the kids word for it, there had to be video evidence. So his daughter was like well then im gonna get video evidence

its fucking 2011. deal with it. i didnt have too much fun in my childhood through to some strict moral codes regarding when we have to do what and what we cant do etc, but never did anyone beat me. in fact my mother freaked out when she saw my brother punching me. violence is never a solution. yeah i am a whalekisser, treehugger, blablbala, but violence has never really solved anything.

"ILLEGAL AS FUCK"... have you done something like that before? of course you have, idk anybody who hasnt downloaded a song or game or whatever before.

lets clear a few things up shall we.

1) this video was shot in 2004. How come it is just coming to light now?

2) setting up a camera to have proof of your dad beating you is a great idea. obviously it worked. People are saying oh why would she do this, why would she want to ruin her father. My guess, is when you repeatedly get beat senseless by someone who “loves” you, your love for them is lost.

3) downloading music is illegal. It might not be a big deal round your neck of the woods but in certain states, and more importantly, certain peoples minds, it is. Its theft. Period.

4) physically disciplining your child IS NOT illegal. Physically abusing your child IS. My dad used to spank the fuckin shit out of me. I cried every damn time. I would then sit my red ass down and think about what I did, and you can bet I never did it again. My parents and I have an awesome relationship. I believe with all my heart that it is because they disciplined me when I needed to be disciplined as a kid. Its what has made me the type of adult I am today, A good one.
my mom used to spank me with a spoon, which is technically a weapon, but I feel there is a big big difference  between a wooden spoon and a belt. If you want to get really technical, your hands CAN be considered weapons.

5) no way should the wife be getting off the hook for this. She hands him his belt. She knowingly watches what happens and does nothing to stop it. That makes you an accomplice, even if you are not doing the act yourself. Bla bla he beat her too, she is a full grown adult. You can walk out the door and leave anytime you choose. Take your daughter with you. I cant believe woman still get away with shit like this. They want to be treated as equals, but as soon as shit hits the fan the first card they play is the weaker sex card. I see so many solutions to this abusive problem, and the mom chose none.

6) this video is sickening, but the only reason it is brought to light is because of the fathers occupation. Im sure this kinda shit happens everywhere and goes completely unnoticed. Everyone can agree that beating your daughter with a belt for “stealing” music is bad. How much worse is it to publicly bury a woman neck deep and throw rocks at her head just for driving a car? Cause that shit happened more recently then this video. I find it funny that when stuff like this happens in your own backyard you are outraged. But when It happens across the pond no one gives to fucks.

people shouldn’t be arguing if the discipline was justified or not, if parents should be disciplining or not. Thats not the point.
my dad once spanked me for drawing on the walls with crayons, your parents might consider that artistic.
my mom hit me on the ass with wooden spoons, your mom might sit you down in the corner for a “time out”.

i know that all of you became great individuals even though you got physically disciplined, but dont pass that on to your kids. its not how raising children should work.

after my mom left my dad (i was 8 or so) me and my brother basically raised ourselves because my mom had to work a lot. like no rules almost (at least none from my mother) and no beating (also none from my father before), no psychological beating.

i would like to describe it that my environment educated me to feel what is right or wrong without discipline. my mind limits me intrinsically to do something wrong or to hurt people. its not because i fear some sort of external punishment.


this is where i think punishments do not work. they change your actions for the wrong reasons. you become a better person because you fear an outside punishment, not because you want to be such a person.

we had a discussion in English class about parental physical punishment vs physical abuse (in the form of spankings) and it was interesting to hear how some people think any form of spanking for any reason is abusive, while some draw a line farther away in the sand, saying it's ok for some punishment, but not all.

I was spanked when I was a kid when I did something bad. It fucking hurt! But like the other kid said above me, you sit on your sore ass afterwords and think, and you damn well know you won't be doing that again.

I had a hard time watching that to be honest. ive never been abused/disciplined/whatever the proper term is for it. my parents were smart enough to find another way to make me pay for what i did.. be it taking away my ski trip on the weekend, hiding my dirtbike, etc. its not that hard to think of another way to punish your children. physical discipline is just the easy way out, as long as it doesnt get exposed like this...

I agree...I'm a mother and I haven't had a reason to ever lay a had on my children. Growing up, I don't honestly believe my mother was all right in the head. I sometimes wonder if she lives with any remorse for dealing out spankings instead of lessons. I believe you have to be somewhat sadistic in the head to not feel horrible for hitting your child. Children are people, they have brains. I've always been able to talk to my children about right and wrong and how to be a good person. Children are children and they will do childish things, they will be wrong. But there is a way to teach them right. Hurting them because they are wrong? It just doesn't make sense to me. And I don't think I 'learned' anything from getting spankings.

obviously my dad did not spank me to the point where shit came out.
he spanked me to discipline me, not hit me with a belt repeatedly to abuse me. there is a big big big difference. just because you personally were never disciplined by spanking, dosnt mean its wrong.

i wouldnt say because your parents didnt spank you that it made them "smarter".
i dont for a second think that your folks are smarter then my folks cause they  hid your dirtbike instead of giving you a few smacks on the ass.
nor do i think my parents took the easy way out by spanking me, cause i certainly dont think it is easy to spank your kids.
my parents didnt spank me because they loved me less then your parents, they spanked me BECAUSE they loved me and wanted to see me grow up proper.

and i dont think that physical punishment is ever the answer. sure w.e it gets the point across too, but it doesnt mean its right. i learned my lessons just as much as you. to be honest, i think mind games make you think more about what you did compared to spankings. i can wipe off getting spanked with a spoon and then go play with my friends, but being told you arent going on a weekend skiing trip with all your friends, and then hearing that the mountain got dumped on that weekend, really makes you think about what you did and how stupid it really was.

im not going to say your parents dont love you, cause thats just borderline douche. but the fact that they spanked you doesnt mean they loved you any more than the average parent. to be honest, i think they have to have some twisted thoughts to be able to physically punish you because i would never lay a hand on a kid.

answer me this: why is it appropriate for a parent to spank their kids, but its not okay for a baby sitter to do the same? where are we supposed to draw the line. and no saying "because its not their kid" is not a reasonable answer at all. why dont you take the time to think about that for a bit

again though, if you read my post. the whole reason i made the post is because you said that you got the shit spanked out of you and called it punishment, but according to you, the video was physical abuse. so yes i did read your last line, along with the rest of your lines
