So noticed a trend in ski movies, especially this year. Urban riders had more shots of throwing skis and bashing them everywhere, do their sponsors not care? I get the frustration of not getting the rail or shot you're looking for, honestly, if I was in charge of managing a team (or any other upper level position in the company, I would make sure people set a good image as a face of a company. Im a little in shock actually. An equivalent to me would be everytime Micheal Vick threw some shit pass, he wouldn't storm off and smash his helmet, not to mention how many destroyed helmets he'd have this year. Am I the only one who thinks this way?

To be able to vouch in this thread it seems to me, you need to be put in their shoes.
Since everyone is picking on Cam Riley for jumping in a puddle (which was one of my favorite parts of Weight) I'll start there.
A segment in a ski movie is basiclly a potfolio of someones work determination and sucess thoughout the season. People really pride themselves on providing a banger segment for the world to see.
Cam Riley produced one of the dopest segments ever in Network in 2010. I can't tell you how many times I've watched that. When weight dropped my expectations are high. Cam delievred again for the 2nd year in a row with a super banger segment. Why? Because he put his heart into it. And when you put your heart into something and it doesnt come out the way you want it to emotions can come out, sometimes in sadness sometimes in rage.

As a lot of you don't seem to understand Urban is one of the most challeging aspects of our sport. There are so many opposing factors that slow us skiers down from our one goal, to slide the rail. For example, the speed, the cops/authority, the weather, the type of metal on the rail, and just how challenging the rail is in general. Oh and don't forget it could very well be 2am, cold as hell, and you have attmpted the rail 50 or so times.

People need to do things to be able to calm that nerve that is driving you insane. Every person is different. While you as a reader of this may just be able to take a time out and regroup, some other people such as Cam Riley or Shea Fylnn need to take out there anger and frusturation on something else. This is usually the closest inanimate objects to them, there skis and poles. Either way each person does what they do to allow them to continue on with their task. Sure you could say "Why dont they just restrain themselves?" Well when your out there at 2am in there situation, let me know how you feel.

I feel like I've blabbered on enough. I feel our age of skiers are turning into the judgemental bitches that occupy every common US high school. Why this is I don't know, but just enjoy what skiers like Cam have to put out there. They do it for you.

going off of what he said...

stept put out one of the most banger movies last year, NetWork. kids all over this site we're posting here and there about how they can't wait to buy/see next years film. that puts the expectations high, as you normally expect the level of riding in ski movies to increase from one year to the next.

when cam's not landing a trick or clearing out a rail, it's almost as if his reputation is on the line. how do you think kids would feel if all he had in his segment was a few mellow down rails, some 540's, maybe a dub or two? pressure is on cam to step it up, and if things aren't going his way, then it's perfectly okay for him to get mad. this is his career and passion we're talking about here. if you're doing urban, not landing a trick, and not getting mad or frustrated, then you've picked the right sport for the wrong reasons.

I see why they get mad, and thats fine, but i really dont want to pay money to watch people throw their shit around, its just not entertaining like actually watching skiing. Some people might enjoy it, but it gives me the same awkward feeling that i get if i am ever forced to watch reality tv.

that being said, sometimes powder crashes are funny to watch, so long as no one gets injured.

hahaha the one in weight with cam riley i think.

stomps the shit out of his bindings, busts his skis then wallows in a mud puddle. that shit was extreme.

and whoever thinks that freaking out is not okay also thinks that fighting should be taken out of hockey cause "its too violent" or some bullshit like that. it's part of the sport so sit the fuck down.
