Thoughts on Nothing Else Matters

The skiing was top notch and the editing was good. Not to mention the music was really good imo. I think that for a free internet movie it almost rivals Level 1's After Dark. If we have free quality movies that are this good I think that some of the bigger production companies are going to have to step it up.

I don't know how you could compare this to AD...not even close.

The skiing was top notch....but the editing? Agree to disagree I guess, man. Waaaay too much slow-mo, and too many trite, uninspired time lapses for me. Not to mention, how many angles, and how many times did we need to see that first jib/gap during the pretty lights seg?

The park segment was really different, ballsy, and absolutely impressive (LoLo for president) but for me, it felt like more of a spectacle ala Nitro Circus rather than a ski segment filmed and edited for skiers.

 The first segment was hampered by the overuse of slow-mo...and holy black slap landings. The second segment, the pow slow-mo snoozer, was straight up boring and mediocre compared to pretty much any pow segment shot this year. There were a handful of dope urban, jib shots, and the riding was pretty amazing overall, but c'mon....better than AD? No shot.

Before you all unleash the onslaught of negativity this reply is sure to generate, know that I thought it was a pretty cool project, and the simple fact that this was released free online speaks volumes and makes it automatically a worthwhile flick and contribution, this OP just came across as hyperbolic to me.

Yeah, you pretty much missed the point there. It's not about whether or not he can stomp cliffs, but about this movie comparing to AD. His argument is, with which i concur, that to compare to AD, back slap landings (and there was a lot of them) are a no go. You just don't see that in AD.

I will add that I think NEM is fucking amazing, great vibe, and great skiing!

I must be lame as all hell. I absolutely LOVED that segment. The deepness, the music - It was perfect in my opinion. I, in no way, was the slightest bit bored by it.

Where did I say that I was capable of better? This is what I don't get about your reply, and the dozens and dozens I've seen like it: Where is this rule that to have an even semi-critical opinion you have to be personally capable of better?

I'm a big ski flick fan, and I have been for something like ten years. The OP is comparing LOS to Level 1, and with that in mind, I personally felt like there were too many shots of questionable landings...when compared to other big name, big dog film companies.

No I can't throw tricks off of 30ft.+ cliffs, and obviously even the best skiers in the world back slap, wash out, etc. I just found it curious that they chose to include so many of those shots.

You guys who think like that ^ need to mellow out and not take someone else's opinion as a personal affront.

ya the good old backslaps...they annoyed us all season because our asses got wet!  but what you gonna do...better a backslap on a big cliff then a stomp on a small one, right?
pray that we get better snow this year in europe and i swear we wont even bend our knees in the next movie...
it was all just because of the snow, haha

This year has had a lot of great free movies.  On Top of the Hood had bigger tricks than the non-free movies.

haha ya i didn't mean to come off as a straight up asshole, i was just real fucked up and just watched the movie earlier and me and all my buddies thought it was so fucking sick! And then i came on and saw quite a bit of hate and was pretty surprised..


for a free movie it was so fucking sick, and i agree they put a lot of questionable shots in there. To me those shots made it more real and sick, if it was a normal dvd that cost money i think they could have left some shots out and done some better editing!


overall though it got my super stoked for some powder!

The last segment with the Fiat jump was in my opinion AMAZING. Unbelievably cool trains. I really enjoyed the whole thing and what makes it better was that it was completely free :)
