I got a 3.90 this term and am happy since i have 3 ap classes...

4.0 in high school, but high school is a joke.

After the first year of college and realizing I wasnt doing anything, sadly I had a 3.32. I had to get it up otherwise I had no chance at med school so Im workin way harder, this semester i should be getting about a 3.9.

Hard work makes up for lack of natural ability.

just cuz you're a freshmen in college doesnt mean you're grown up or cool cuz you live on your own now and out of highschool..

you dont live on your own, most of your parents pay for your shit and college, the college provides you housing and food and electricity and water etc.

and your maturity level isnt any greater. you're still the immature highschooler you were 3 and a half months prior.

be out of college for 2 years, and work in the real world with working professionals, then go back and see highschoolers and college freshman.. they're no different.

College is fucked up at times with grading. My CS&E class at Ohio State which goes over access, excel, powerpoint, and etc sucks. My teacher announced that in the class of 200-300 no one has an A in the class, I have a high B working my ass off. In my math class no one got an A overall, a few A-'s, I was one of 4 ppl to get an A on the final(finished with a C+). In my Spanish history gec I got a B, the class average was an A-. In my Macro economics class everyone fails the exams because our prof got his mba from havard and is crazy tough(luckily he scales nicely). These are some examples from my first two years at Ohio State. I believe I was a 3.5-6 my freshmen year.

I hate professors who graduated from crazy places and make their classes so hard. Last year my chem professor had Phd's in both organic and inorganic chemistry from MIT. Good teacher, but waaaay hard.

That's true with every step you make in your life as far as maturing. Middle school, high school, college, real life, marriage, kids. You look down on the levels below you like they're immature and don't know as much as you because its true.

It happens when you're in high school looking at middle school, a senior in high school looking at a freshman, a freshman in college looking at high school, someone out of college looking down at someone in college and so on.

If you are actually two years out of college looking down on me then you're doing the exact same thing.

I would've said the exact same thing that K_M said if I was in high school but then I realized that you do mature a lot being "on your own." I may not be completely independent of my parents but its one of the biggest steps you take in getting there. Penis.

Trust me though, people do grow up pretty fast in freshman year. I still have to take first year classes and I can totally observe how much more mature the class gets throughout the semester. At the start of the year I didn't even attend those classes because of all the little hotshots who think disrupting the class make them funny. Now it's pretty manageable, I just have to avoid one person.

By second year there is literally no one like that left.

Parties only get more immature throughout college though. It's like an inverse fuction between day-time maturity level and weekend maturity level.

honestly, yes. I think it is useful. I figured I wanted to go to school for something I enjoyed (history), why pay money for an education that I didn't even want to go to class for? Just because it is 'what I have to do to make money once I graduate'? (aka almost every business major) Not only did I enjoy every one of my classes, but I feel like I have a better ability to interpret facts, a batter ability to have a more objective standpoint on issues, and a better understanding of our past and its influence on current events (my thesis was on medieval Islam). I think these are traits that I use every day. I guess, I just wanted to make the point that I think too many people are obsessed with thinking that what they get their degree in is going to depict the rest of their lives...when really it isn't, unless you are going for something truly specific and going onto get your Ph.D or something. Most employers will simply be looking to see that you started college and were able to finish it. Do what you love and study something that you will enjoy learning about.
