Im lookin for a ski thats about 60% all mountain 40% park, Im 5'8" 140 pounds. Im lookin at Ar7 and the k2 recoils but im confused on which on would ride better. + k for good help
I'd make it between the ar7 and Domain, I have ar7s and I finally skied them last weekend and I loved them, but it was only trail and a couple of rails so I can't give you a full review.
for the armada's they are a little stiffer so theyd be good if you want more all mountain or if your heavier, but if i was you seeign your doing more all mountain maybe get the el reys or the arv's
also depends where you live... I have a pair of ARVs that i use as my all mt skis, and occasional park use. But i have a pair of park skis too because the arv are a little wide for my liking in the park (90 at the waist).demo if u can.
my choice was between ar7, recoils, and chronics. i chose ar7 because it was the lightest and it was the skinniest. the three are all stiff skis and perfect for what you do. i would go ar7
im pretty sure the recoils are stiffer than the AR7's
nonetheless, the recoil sounds like what you want. it will handle really well on all mountain, it has early rise (armada's don't) and it would be a good stiffness if you want something that isnt a noodle. plus at your size the 174 would be good
I just skied recoils this weekend. They are really fun and poppy and light but they ski like shit. Getting the edge to engage is not easy. You just don't get that carving feel
If you want an armada ski that you can take all around the mountain but still play in the park go with the el reys, it's really durable and fun for all around the mountain just make sure you get your bindings center mounted
Recoils are your best bet for what you're looking for in a ski! Armada AR7 is more of a park ski...You can easily turn the Recoils into a ski like the AR7 by detuning your edges..I have recoils, but beware the top sheet delaminates really easily so don't dump a bunch of money into them...
Were they super heavily detuned or something? Because I thought the Iron Madien (Recoil) was one of if not the the best carving 'park ski ' I've been on!
K2 Recoils (I skied the '13 Iron Maiden version) are the best ski for someone who wants to ski a mix of all mountain and park and get high performance in both. Make sure you just detune them underfoot (no higher than the sidewall) and they will still really rip on groomers. I have also skied THalls and Halos in the previous 2 seasons and the Recoil was amazing in comparison.
