Post Your Car Setup For The Upcoming Winter

looking for ideas for the upcoming winter on what i should do with my car. For example what racks to get, snow tires or no snow tires, or really anything that works for you guys. P.s. i already search bared.

Hopefully a 1999 hyundai accent, going to look at it today. Don't judge me lol, I would rather have a tiny car and drive around for pennies then pay 10$ to drive anywhere with a truck.

Sub in the trunk... for those of you with this blessing, do yourself a favor and buy an oversized plastic bin, like so

and throw all your grimy wet boots, pants, tall tees, underwear, beer cans, roaches, skullcandy bandanas, skullcandys, EtCeTrA in HERE to avoid it dripping all over your trunk and precious bass boxes.

ALSO, if you have a 96-04 outback, and you're looking for somewhere convenient to put your poles, buy some adhesive velcro, cut TWO 1--foot stips of both Hooks and Loops sides of the velcro. Stick the sticky side of one of the hooks onto the sticky side of one of the loops, and do the same with the other two. Then take them and thread them through these handly little tabs on the back of your rear seats HERE \/

then, simply wrap both velcro straps around your poles and, voila, they are out of your way.

Yeah, I get it. Problem is you'll be paying pennies to spin your tires and go no where. When that happens the $10 won't seem so bad.

a nice set of new tires will cost as much as a decent lift. crank the torsion keys for 2-3 inches and spacers if you have coils

except I would need new wheels for bigger tires as well. I already have it sitting higher than stock anyways so I am just getting the biggest tire that will fit on my rims.

when I have money I am going to put much larger tires on the truck and use the tires for the 4runner.

hmm. well I am looking for something for year round. I don't drive in snow very often, mostly paved/dirt roads and occasionally offroad.

basically I want a tire that is acceptable in snow and good in dirt but without being too loud on the highway.

we don't get enough snow in Ohio to really make any changes needed. I am adding some ski racks for this season I think.

bro idk where the heck you live but honestly the way this winter is going in many parts of the country, for the 1 time it snows and you actually need snow tires. There is no reason to change up your car just for winter. Like if its that shitty out, just dont drive there probably isnt anywhere you really need to go. The roads generally get cleared up andp lowed and shit a few hours after it gets pretty bad out so just post up and wait

These aren't the tires I posted above. They are the wrangler duratracs. I got the lower sidewall load rating which I think was a better decision in my case.

does fine, just watch for understeer or 'push' if the snow tires are good, you can feel the car kind of slipping, but with steering and throttle input you can manipulate it surprisingly well for fwd.

supposed to be a period after 'push'. all tires are going to slip one way or another, it's how quickly the tires can find grip after the initial loss of traction is what makes them good.

Yeah, I saw your post in the latest purchase thread regarding the Duratracs. I fucking love mine. Only all-season tire more geared towards off roading I found that had extreme snow/ice rating. They definitely hold their own.

I have the "E" load rated tires, and they are a bit stiffer than imagined. Still an amazing tire though. Once they die, I will probably just replace with the "C" load rating. Still more than sufficient for my needs, but a bit softer ride and slightly cheaper.

yup I got the C's for that reason. I mean the difference in price was so small I didn't even consider it. These give me the ride I was hoping for. They are softer than my old tires but by no means mushy. I will post again once I have tested them in some snow. I've already got a little mud on them and they performed better than I expected. Like seriously close to rivaling the performance of a mud-terrain tire for the shallow mud I was in.

This, and the snow/ice rating is exactly why I bought them.

I really only notice the extra stiff sidewalls when driving on "washboard," or otherwise rutted out roads/trails.
