Suggestions for places to live??

NS,
I'm looking for a new place to live. My current job is finished next summer and I'm looking for suggestions of awesome places to live, then looking for a job secondly.

Any suggestions and comments for nice cities/towns? I'm on the east coast now, but would definitely like to move far west (Colorado, Washington, Oregon, etc). Looking for a small-medium city with plenty of outdoor recreation, nice people (middle-upper class), easy to get around, etc.

Boise, Idaho

small city (300,000ish?) with tons to do. has a ski resort 30 minutes away, and 3 more within 3 hours away. river, greenbelt, mountain biking, some decent skateparks, a lake 40 minutes away, downtown area, and more. Lots of nice people, super safe.

McCall Idaho is also only 2 hours away and it is one of my favorite places on earth

Do not move to these places if you are looking for a job to make into a career unless you are in profession where you can work at home.

Its great there because its not a serious ride up the mountain to go ski, but its close to denver for sporting events and nights on the town.
I really want to live in Highlands Ranch... but i would probably need to win the lottery to live there.

Inuvik. Almost year-round snow at sea level so you can do all the skiing you want. The town is about 95% white people and it has a very large university so a lot of young people live there. A lot of fresh food is grown/raised there since the climate is so favourable. Scared of the dark? It doesn't get dark. The towns people have also made a friendly alliance with the local polar bears so if you love wildlife, nothing beats wild polar bears, they aren't dangerous at all.

Your in boulder? I would say if you need a job and want to ski golden Colorado is awesome. It's a pretty neat town and close to Denver and not to far to the mountains. Ialso salt lake is good for this same reason.

Montana is a nice place, Missoula or Bozeman are the best imo just because they're college towns. Bozeman is very laid back and slow paced, tons and tons of stuff to do outdoors and at most of the parks they have little rock climbing structures. Missoula has a pretty awesome music scene and more stuff to do downtown. Very hipster friendly.
If you move to southwest Montana you'll never wanna leave.

Squamish and Tofino/Ucluelet are basically the best places in Canada, but they are not really cities. Squamish is a big town though and close to Vancouver.

Victoria is the best Small/Medium city in Canada.

agreed, although its a slight bit isolated, so head there with eyes wide open. It takes 3 hours to get anywhere outside of Bend.

Otherwise, it was just about the perfect place on earth.

I moved West from Boston 4 years ago. I would suggest colorado and Oregon over WA. I spend most of my leisure time in Oregon. Better gun laws, taxes etc. than WA skiing compared to the East is good in all 3 but I miss the East coast for everything but skiing everyday and am getting the fuck out of the West asap

spocompton, nice? at least coeur d'alene is on the lake. matter of opinion I suppose.

I'd recommend anywhere on the east flanks of the Cascades/Sierra Navada: Bend, Yakima, or Reno (or smaller towns around those centers). Close to the mountains, but a lot drier than if you were to be on the west side. That being said though - I think Reno is ghetto.

Chicago is fuckig sick. Although if you love to ski and live in Chicago you will honestly want to kill yourself after a while. Nowhere close, and the resorts that exist in Illinois/Wisconsin are a large step down from the east coast. Although I that doesn't bother you, move to Chicago. Fuckin sick. I'm actually going there to visit my brother next week. Stoked!

Ya coeur d' Alene is nicer. I've just lived in Sandpoint and Spokane my whole life. Spokane is nice once u get out of the ghetto areas.

i've been to chicago a handful of times and it is pretty fun, but i'm not a city person. been living in Boston, Mass for 4 months and it's a sweet city...but traffic and public transit sucks.

thanks for the ideas. i was in Spokane once and it seemed like a nice place, but i'm sensing it has a different side?

What the do you consider a big town then? Squamish has a population of 15000. which is 10 times the size of Tofino. I would say a town of 15000 is a pretty big town.

Also there is plenty to do around squamish, world class climbing, skiing, fishing, hiking etc right at your door. Obviously you gotta deal with rain it's the west coast!

parker is the absolute worst place to live, so bad it even has its own thread in regionals.

and highlands ranch is to soccer mom, every middle aged middle class person seems to live there.

those are my impressions on the f cities, however i havent been in CO for long

if by small town you mean under 10,000 people look into Sanpoint, Idaho. Basically on a ski hill and a huge lake, tons of out door type stuff there.
