doing comps

i was wondering how good u have to be to enter local amatuer comps, and whether its better to just try them and see how u do, or wait until you know you wil do good. any advice from people who have done it?

waht kind of comps are you doing, make sure you do have some decent tricks so you don't look like an idiot, but like what they said make sure you have fun. You should try it out and see how you do. Some people like comps others don't. I know when I first started doing them I didn't really enjoy them all that much and then I started getting better and I had a good time

I would say enter as many as you can. You may surprise yourself and others too. And if you do suck, no one will care, they will respect that you had the balls to enter. On top of that, I love comps because it makes you want to throw down and gives you something to practice for. Jim

i entered a small slopestyle comp at little switz two winter ago. it was the gayest experice of my skiing life. we hardly got to practice before hand, but this asshole kid with 150cm skis got to use the park before anybody. he ended up winning with a 10 foot 720, and a discusting overflip type thing. it was sad. i said 'FOCK EEET!' and on my second run i stopped on top of the second table and just fucking danced. i got 2nd.

i've never entered a comp, but they had one at winter park last year, and some of the competitors (mostly snowboarders) weren't even clearing 10 ft trannies with flailing straight airs. so don't worry about it

yeah, just go for it. they can be alot of fun, and i've never seen anyon be an asshole and say 'you stink!' or something. you should be fine.

I enter competitions when they come up. For me at least, competitions are more for having fun and meeting new people rather than showing people how good or bad I am, because nobody really cares.

the run for 3rd place stevens slopestyle went as follows, 3 mute, 180safety, switch 5 mute, then some rail stuff. dont worry, i am doing that one and its tons of fun. plus the 2 place guy was a pro. he wont do am again

the only comp i've been in is at my home mountain where there is no freestlye program but they still decide to host a halfpipe comp - i came 3rd by throwing sum decent sized grabs and a 540 lol

dude your a dud you have to compete in as many comps as you can no matter how big/small the comps is or how bad/good you are its all about getting comfortable competing the more comps under your belt the better i just started competing two years ago and last year out of 3 local slopestyles I got 2nd in one and this year out of the three local slopestyles I got two 1sts and didnt compete in the 3rd comp its all about recognition make sure everyone knows your name

I entered my first comps last season (playstation air games in france) and i knew i had no chance of winning, i was shitting myself at the top but i went for it big and did ok and after that nothing on the piste or the park bothered me, i say even if you don't do again after it will be good for your confidence.
also one of my girl mates entered for her first time and because there were no other female competitors she won first prize, playstation 2, got on french extreme tv. awesome day!
