I've been waiting to post my complete thoughts until I get a few more days on mine, but I can say that I fucking love my 191's in most conditions the PNW offers. Coming off of 10/11 191 Caylor's and 09/10 191 Wren's last season, the BG's definitely don't carve as well, or have as much edge retention on firm snow. But that's really my only complaint so far. They make me enjoy skiing chopped up/shittier snow that I would have otherwise not enjoyed. Untracked powder is obviously awesome, but plowing through tracked powder is where the 191 BG's really excel compared to my old 191 Caylor's that I knew and loved. My favorite place to ride is the trees, so naturally the BG's shine and offer the agility and intuitiveness to make me much more confident than skis in the past have done. They feel heavy mounted with FKS 180's when held in my hands, but once I click in the weight is not exceptionally noticeable compared to other skis. Getting backseat the skis seem to become pretty dead and lifeless, much harder to control, not a place I like to be. But when you get back on the sweet spot, they turn instantly and allow effortless maneuverability.
Note: I am intoxicated and may be professing my undying love to my skis, so if you don't like it...fuck you.
For reference: 6'2, 195 lbs, been skiing 17 years, mostly in MN, but the past 7 years in WA
Skis I own: 11/12 191 BG's, 11/12 186 Jeffrey's, 11/12 196 Pillowfights
Skis I've owned (condensed): 09/10 191 Wrens, 10/11 181 Jeronimo's. 10/11 191 Caylor's, 08/09 185 JJ's, 08/09 183 Bentchetler's, 09/10 195 Super 7, 2 pairs of 188 Lib Tech NAS's one Recurve, one not...and so on and so forth
Plain and simple, I grab my 191 BG's just about every day regardless of the conditions, unless I feel like fucking around on the Jeffery's. The PNW has been having an off season overall (like most others) so I only have one amazing day on my Pillowfights so far. I will be moving to the 12/13 191 BG's next season, but until then, I will be loving every second on my current pair. (Putting it out there now, I will be selling my 191 AK Fishsticks Billy Goats in a few months...hit me up if interested).
Yup, that's it for now. I need another beer.
