No, but you have to make sure you have enough money to pay for the upgrades. My advice: use the gift cars you earn by leveling up in the career (they are usually pre-tuned/upgraded) to raise your driver level for each car brand, and all your upgrades are free once you hit leve 4! Then you can upgrade all you want without worrying about money.
Shit just started playing again. Used some spare point to acquire the hennessy venom (aka the 1200hp, v8 beast). Been drifting to in my BMW 850i or whatever the fuck it's called. GT EDIAS777
Drifting in Forza 2 was by far the best, maybe not as far as physics and graphics go, but in that game there were no 'drift points', people who wanted to have drifting comps set up battles on sections of the track that were either based off drifting comps in real life, or at least a similar amount of corners as a real course would. There were also judges set up in each corner to judge participants on speed, style, line, and sometimes on closeness (depending on the rules). None of this going around the entire course just seeing how many 'points' you can get
I didn't read every post in this thread, but I stopped playing Xbox right before Forza 4 came out, so I really hope this more realistic type of drifting comps still exist in Forza 4, because it's so much more fun and a lot more challenging
(oh, and back in Forza 2, if you drifted an AWD car in a drifting lobby, you got your face ripped off from people who considered it 'not real drifting')
i will forgive you this time for your lack of knowledge on the subject of need for speed shift, I hope you obtain the time to reply to this as i am sure you are out drifting in your own 240x, not sitting at home twiddling your thumbs on a stick
if you ever get the time, try playing it, well actually dont.
