Opus vs bacons?

so im looking to get some powder skis, im on ep's now, which i LOVE, but they are destroyed and i really need something new. so im debating between the opus and the bacon. Its gonna be mostly for powder, but probably a bit of park too. i loved riding my ep's in the park, but not enough to take them over my park skis if im skiing park for the day. they opened up a lot of possibilities, but were still more limiting. if that makes sense.

i do have park specific skis, but it would be cool to have a pow ski that i could use half the time for park. something that skis like a cross between the eps and a park ski.

im just not sure on what the opus skis like compared to the ep. it seems like it could either be very similar or completely different. i know they stiffened it up a bit, which would be ok, as long as its still not a stiff ski, even a medium flex might be too stiff for what i want. but that little bit of extra stiffness, more narrow dimensions, less/better designed early rise, more effective edge, and lighter weight makes it seem like it would be quite a bit better for park.

and i dunno what id do for size with bacons, i rode the original lizzies that were 172 and i loved them in that size. and id be tempted to go with 172 or 178. but 184 would make so much more sense for powder

also wanna say my original bacons were easily, by far the most fun ive ever had on skis, BUT only in the right conditions, deep, even sorta choppy powder, ive never experienced anything like them, you can actually surf the snow, you can get up on top of the powder get the tails out and slide, then turn that into a butter, and even on hardish pack, they were sooo damn poppy it was insane.
so i dont wanna loose that.

then again they were a pain to butter on hardpack because you would just bend them like 90 degrees and wash out, they didnt pop u out of butters like most skis.

The opus is almost exactly the same ski as the '11 bacon. I'm sure they would be great for you, especially if you're mainly skiing pow. They are by no means a stiff ski, but they're a bit snappier than the ep. A bit softer than the bent chetler. Get a pair of 185s and play on everything.

Yeah the opus is alot like last years bacons but you actually get more effective edge on the opus due to the sidecut. The tails are stiff though. Coming off the ep pros it's gonna be real noticeable. But I think after ya got used to em you'd love em. They're nothing like the lizzies so don't take my next statement wrong but....the feeling I get on the opus is the same feeling I got on the lizzies. That feeling of omg this ski is amazing and can do anything. As far as the new bacons go they're stiffer than the opus and are a completely different ski than the typical pollard models. Hard sidecut so it rips groomers. Still floats with the rise but narrow enough to rip park. They're sick and you really have to see em in person to appreciate em. But your talkin mostly pow right? I've run my opus over park booters and loved it so they're capable. IMO far more capable than the ep pros. So I'd go opus.

^haha. Yeah but dude I only jump on what i know. You won't see me talkin bout icelantics or coreupts. I was fortunate enough to get the opus and my bud the bacons waaaay early so I try to give advice to peeps who haven't gotten the chance to ride em yet. Sorry if I look like such an opus whore.
