not getting an expensive pair of shoes.
what, are you afraid you wont use them? they're fucking shoes, you wear them every fucking day. they're more comfortable, breathable, will save your knees, all sorts of shit. on top of that, they last longer than crappy shoes, so you really aren't spending more money in the long run. i'd rather buy a $200 pair of really good shoes that last me a year or more than buy a $60 pair of shoes that feel awful and rip apart in a few months.
i will never understand that.
oh, i will also never understand why parents buy shit for children that are too big. it's understandible that you want to give them some room to grow, but honestly, when you buy something that's wayy oversized that they wont even be USING it until later, why not just buy something that fits, and replace it when you have to? buying something for the future seems pointless to me. you think your kid is getting more use out of it, but he isn't. if its too big, he wont wear it / use it until it fits, or if he does he wont be enjoying himself, so just buy something that fits off the start.
i remember working in retail and seeing a dad get a snowboard for his kid that TOWERED over him. how can that even be fun? congratulations, you may have saved yourself a little bit of money, but he honestly will have no control over that board, and feel awful in those boots that are 3 sizes too big. may as well box that shit up and let him open it in 3 christmas's from now..
