If it's his first ski like this, he is going to have a pretty wide variety of options. Mainly because he has an idea, but most likely is not sure what he really wants in a touring/pow/all mountain ski. He will probably learn a lot from this ski as to what he likes/dislikes for the future.
With that being said, here are just a few options.
The Line Sir Francis Bacon. This has early rise in tip and tail, a tight turn radius, and pretty low swing weight for it's size. It will be slightly on the more playful side of the scale.
Line Blend. This only has early rise in the tip, and a little thinner waist. This will rail a little better on groomers, and feel a little less surfy in pow because it has a bigger sidecut and less early rise.
K2 Kung Fujas. These will be similar to the Blends, but a bit heavier because that is just how K2 does it.
Armada ARV. These have full regular camber, decently long sidecut, and more narrow waist. This will make them rail groomers and handle speed really well, but they will be less surfy and take a little more effort to sluff snow in pow.
Salomon Shogun. These have a little bit of tip rocker, a huge turn radius, and bamboo "snappyness". They will love to go fast and charge variable snow, but the tip rocker will still keep you up and help with a little bit of the surfy feel in pow.
That's it for now. I should get back to work. Just keep looking. Most brands have a ski or two that fit the all mountain/one-ski-quiver type of thing you are looking for.
