Which are more durable: 09 line invaders or 2010 afterbangs

Dont quote me on any of this, but I would hazard a guess at the afterbangs being more durable. Just because of the wood construction, and the afterbang being a thicker ski. Plus I snapped my 09 invaders.

But before that happened, they were the most fun skis I've ever owned in my life.

well... my friend had invaders, and i had afterbangs. mine looked more beat up in a day then his did from the whole season

i would go with invaders. my friend had invaders for three seasons, and just retired them this season. my other friend has been on abangs for two and they look worse almost than the invaders. plus my friend who is on invaders shreds a lot harder and hits a lot more rails than the one who rides a bangs.

That's right you are!
You'll literally have the most fun of your skiing career on Invaders. SOOO light, poppy, and soft/snappy flex. Makes the entire mountain trickable.

I gave A-Bangs a shot this year just to try something different but similar.
In all honesty, they use the same fatty extruded base and edges. So in that case, I think the crucial stress areas of the ski are damn near equal.

As for the actual ski ski, A-bangs and Invaders both have a tendency of losing camber after a season or two of hard riding. Happens because of the soft flex pattern. Not necessarily a bad thing as it makes them even MORE fun especially when initiating butters.

The only real difference is cap vs. sandwich construction.
IMHO, sandwich is a MUCH more durable/practical way of constructing a park ski only because capped skis are prone to delam and gnarly chipping, however I can honestly say I had no problems with the Invaders in either case.

Really in this case go by preference. Almost identical skis with similar dimensions/flex pattern.

What it boils down to:
A-Bangs = Sandwich construction but heavier.
Invaders = Capped construction but lighter.
Take your pick my friend.

Are you sure about cap construction being prone to top sheet chipping? I know rossi puts a bit of cap above their sidewalls, which is supposed to help with top sheet chipping. My storms haven't chipped at all really, although I have only used them for a week of hard riding at COC.

Oh absolutly! I used the Invaders last season and put quite a bit of slices/chips in the cap.
More-so then when I rode the Rossi Scratch FS for a season (sandwich construction).

The material is softer and the wood core is more vulnerable on a cap ski if you cut deep enough you know?
The really only benefit to a cap construction ski is saving weight. Mostly all conventional styles of cap construction cuts weight in comparison to sandwich. That's the way I understand it.

Yeah I know it cuts weight, but It doesn't absorb shock as well right?

sandwich is more prone to chipping, slices =/= chips.

the softness of the cap on my anthems means its impossible to chip. I assume its the exact same cap material on the invaders.

I would go with the afterbang. its a flexable ski and hard to break. also not very expensive

Invaders are way better than a-bangs. Get the invaders.

They are nearly the exact same ski.

And slices, chips whatevaaaaa. All I know is after one season, my invaders showed more signs of wear then my Scratches with top sheet damage.

Not really, they are constructed totally different.

Invaders are better IMO everyone i've known with afterbangs have disliked them, and 2 out of the 3 people's skis broke within a month. I haven't known many with invaders, but they all liked them and they lasted a long time
