You do realize that there are different qualities, and thicknesses of base materials. There are also different thicknesses of edges. Different Sidewall materials, etc.

And saying that a ski has rocker and camber does nothing to actually describe the rocker/camber profile of the ski.

So no...90% of what I want to know is not on the website.

Base thickness has plenty to do with durability. Same with edges. The S3's from a couple years ago had paper thin base material and were core shottig left and right. As for comparison I would compare them to the ski's on my wall.

As far as real rocker dimensions it does make a difference. Maybe I WANT to know how much camber is underfoot. How much splay is in the tip and tails. These make a difference in how ski performs. Or don't they?

I'm seriously considering picking a pair up off of promotive. But I don't want to regret that decision. Some people have to pay for their gear.

Not trying to get into this whole back and forth, and I didn't read your whole post after the first few lines, but saying base thickness is irrelevant is pretty ridiculous. Not only does it influence the amount of damage a ski will take from an impact with a rock, stump, etc without taking a core shot, it directly relates to the thickness of the edges used on the skis and that can have substantial difference in the longevity of a ski if it is hitting rails and such (and remember we are talking thickness, not width which people call thickness all the time).

It always can affect weight. That is why you see skis like the JJ have very, very thin edges and bases. The really helps decrease the weight.

Standard base material is 1.3mm thick. That is what you are going to see on most stuff out there.

We use a 1.8mm thick base on everything we do at ON3P. It is about as thick as anything I've seen out there. It doesn't sound like a huge different, but it is over 1/3rd thicker and it takes a huge amount of abuse to get a core shot.

To fit with a base that thick, we also have to have edges that are thicker than what most people are using, so they last longer when abused on rails (as there is just physically more material to wear down) and they are less susceptible to edge compressions you might see from a rock shot.

Anyway, only point I am trying to make is that stuff like base & edge thickness, base material, and so on do matter. Totally up to the mfg if they want to include that stuff, but as someone who physically writes the checks that go for paying for these materials, I can tell you that there is a definitely financial difference between a stock 1.3mm 2001 base and a 1.8mm 4001 race base. It might not be much all that much per meter, but when you are ordering 2000+ meters for just 1,000 pairs, the cost adds up quickly.

You don't need to worry about being hard on this "kid". Some random alias trying to act like a bad ass makes very little impression on me.

But I know the exact specs on the skis I own. If I decide to pick up a Klint ski. I will certainly compare every detail of construction and finishing that I can.

I am seriously considering picking up a pair for hard days. I hardly think my questions are out of place or out of line...Kid.

I'm going to make a random prediction here. Looking at the gruno electric skiers becoming Klint skiers connection, I'm going to guess that p white and chris Logan will be on Klint before we know it considering Rossi's financial destitution, but who knows

I noticed today that Brant Moles is on Klint. Is he a rider for the company or a part of its hierarchy?

Brant Moles is not with Klint. He has skied them though. Brant is promoting Soul poles, pretty cool bamboo stuff.

Nah its old Dynastar riders. They dropped all their riders apparently so they can have a ton of money for R&D for this years skis.


My shop dude got me a good deal on some of the KLINT park skis. I'm pretty excited to see how they ride.

When a company puts "racebase" on their web-site.....well that doesn't tell you what it is made out of, how it was constructed, what shape it is.  There are MANY types of bases, and all change the way you ride your skis drasticly.

The same goes for edges, and sidewall construction. Are the sidewalls ABS, or PVC plastic? What kind of epoxy was used to make the sk?. How/where are the skis pressed? Are the edges rockwell 45s our something different?

Shape is a big part of what a ski is, but if you want to know how durable a ski is.....well then you need to know the construction. As a company which schould want to cater to its consumers, I don't see a problem with Klint showing us how they make their skis ( if you ask Moment, or ON3P....or any type of independant ski manufacturer they will show you).

As for Klint as a company, im not a fan on how they are going to use a poison brand ( rockstar) to market their skis to kids ( using the rockstar graphic on their park/pipe skis).

FUCK KLINT SNOW!  This skis, suck, and so does the company.
