Roomate's dog died...

so this past weekend my room mate came back with news his dog has/had cancer. 15 minutes ago he got the call from home that it kicked the bucket and now he is absolutely beside himself crying. when he got the phone call i just popped in headphones cuz i heard him start the soft sniffles and figured personal moment. now he is crying like it was a member of the family and i can hear his girly sobs over A Day To Remember blasting in my ears.

This got me thinking about all the times ive had pets die and ive never really cried, like yea it sucked but it was always just something to shrug off and move on cuz at the end of the day they were still only animals.

So I'm wondering NS: Do u guys cry when ur dogs die and im just an ass or is my roomate being a total pussy like i think he is.

and yes you can get unconditional love from a human, its called marriage. and not some bullshit vegas marriage over after 5 years crap, actual, been together 60 years, we've had huge fights but its because we are people and people have opinions but we work through them because we love each other, type of  unconditional love marriage... and yes it does exist you just have to look for it, and work for it even after you have it.

Every pet ive ever had, ive either had since they were less than a year old or since i was really little, i ball when my pets kick, my german shephard that ive had since i was 6 died a couple months ago. cat that i had literally since before i was bored died when i was 13. got the news it had cancer on my birthday, it died near christmas. just lost another cat i'd had since before i was born a few months before that. shit sucks

My first dog died when I was 11. I still almost tear up just thinking about it because I loved her so much. Now reading this I'm afraid that my current dog will be gone soon and I have an even better connection with him since I picked him out and he is basically mine :(

Just because a dog is an animal doesnt mean you can't form an attachment to it. People bond with their pets, they get a name, a place to sleep, you feed them, its like having an extra family member. Both my dogs are laying next to me. when i come home they run to the door, wag their tails and jump on me. when i go away apparently they legit miss me. Animals can have human qualities and you get attached to those qualities. Thats why people love their pets

My dog almost died 2 weeks ago,but luckily my mom took him to the vet. When he got back he couldn't walk and was pissing all over the place. I just sat in the kitchen with him the whole night crying. He is 13 and I am 18 he has been there for pretty much my whole life and the though of losing him just makes me devistated. When my first dog died when I was 8 I didnt cry at all because I had not formed and attachment to him really. Luckily as of now my dog is fine (this is the 2nd time in 2 years he had less than a 50% chance of living so he is a fucking champ), but I think we will be lucky if he makes it another six months.

Dogs are the shit.

honestly, i was pretty much ok the whole time. empathizing with the guy and everything, thinking about what if it was my dog, but not getting worked up over it.

as soon as the needle was in his leg, and the woman said, "he's gone" and he started telling the dog how much he loved him and everything, I wept. Tears, sniffles, quivering lip, the whole nine yards.

balled my eyes out when my first dog died. it was absolutely devastating to me, we did everything together. still miss her so much. it almost didnt feel right getting another dog, but now i cant imagine losing the one i have now. ill certainly shed some tears when she goes too. everyone has their own views on life and it's elements, so i dont really think its fair or right to bash you for it. it all depends on how you were brought up and what you were exposed to as a kid. if you were never in this situation than its unfortunately your loss, and id highly recommend it. nothing beats the feeling of coming home every day to something so unbelievably stoked to see you every time, and doesnt care what kind of mood you are in. all it wants to do is to be happy and to make you happy. but this was my experience, and i could rant about it all day.

it takes more than a 30 and cod to get over the loss of your best friend. if that's how he felt about it, which i assume he did, id give him some time. +++vibes

Yep - cried when my dog died. My parents had him before I was born and he was my childhood best friend until he died on Valentine's day when I was 8 or 9

not really, i'd agree. the more people i meet the more i like my dog and loosing one is just as bad as loosing a close family member. people are corrupt and animals are innocent. i don't cry over anything really but loosing a dog rips you apart.

Dogs are always loyal, honest, and loving. Humans are largely greedy, violent, and selfish. I am confident that there are easily 3 billion wicked people who I wouldn't mind dying. How you were able to stretch my tongue-in-cheek comment into me saying we should ethnically cleanse innocent men, women, and children based on their religious affiliation rather than their actions is beyond me.

And even if your shit argument DID make any sense, the fact that I would even suggest such a thing only proves my point that humans are bile and dogs are awesome. Double fail on your part.

I have had the same exsperiences as most of you and it took me days to recover! all you haters should realize dogs are more than animals their close to you as your family is or even closer, a dog is a "man's best firend!"
