I've gone through horrible depression and paranoia throughout my entire life and I just started Prozac today. I'm seventeen and aware of the effects that it can have on teenagers (worsened suicidal thoughts.) I'm wondering what experiences other people have with this medication. +K for actual help, -K for being a dick.
Don't know enough about Prozac to say much, and I am pretty sure all of us don't know enough about you for any personalized advice. All I have to say is depression/anxiety/mood disorders suck and good luck, and be careful.
Duly noted. I'm pretty aware of the side effect and I'm being very cautious about it, I'm sticking close to home for a few weeks just in case anything happens, and I've told my close friends what's up and to keep an eye on me and say something if they notice anything.
lets not forget about the 60s, you know rosa parks, mlk, the whole blacks in different schools and bathroom things. seems like the 60s were on lock down and it was lsd that made things wierd...... yea
I was prescribed prozac for about a year. Don't listen to people that tell you ssri's are bad, they clearly have never been in a situation where they need to take them. Prozac made me feel like a zombie, but that varies with the person.
that being said, prozac has one of the lowest incidences with worsening symptoms among commonly prescribed ssri's. You just need to stay on top of your treatment, if you feel worse or start to want to kill yourself, tell your doctor immediately.
other than that remember that medication is just one part of recovery, don't just rely on it to "fix" you. Just do your best to stay positive, you're gonna do fine.
