Just wondering what it's like. I know it depends from resort to resort but I'm just looking for a general idea of hours, pay, difficulties they've experienced, that kind of thing.

the vast majority of them work for peanuts, and this is reflected in the quality of their photos. I dont know if you're referring to the people who stand at the top of the lifts at nice resorts, or the "official resort photographer" but neither are paid well in my experience.

i know at my mountain (stratton) there was a guy who i don't think was 100% with the resort. but he was a close family friend and had to shut down because business wasn't good/stratton was charging a lot of rent on his shop.

at my resort it was usually a manager, leader, etc. (someone full time with an office) who enjoyed photography and had a nice camera. That was for events, and then they would have someone else, usually an ambassador, to stand at the top of the lift and take pictures of families

There's a guy at my resort who works for the resort taking various photos of people. As far as I know, he makes spit for a living. Simply shoots, imports, and sells them at the end of the day. I personally think it would be a horrible job.

it shouldn't be that hard other then the hours might be bad. during events you might have to stay late or wake up early and work the whole day.
but its like any photography job, youre not shooting for the wire but still its just taking photos at your mountain.
