Uh dude really? Have you read any reviews or searched on here? I'm not flaming ya but the phrase "best ski ever made" is getting tossed around alot concerning these skis. Trust me they're ten shades of sick.
yeah i've heard all the hype about them, i mean they've made 2 different magazine covers.. i was just wanting opinions from normal people such as myself and not magazine editors
I really wasn't flaming ya.....jus jokin really. But yeah alot of my friends got em and say they're sick. I'm getting a pair too. If ya see em in person you'll know what I mean. Pics do em zero justice. Ya gotta lay one down and put your foot on it. They really are a badass shape. I initially wrote em off with the new sidecut, etc but all my buds are saying these things rip everything. Park included. I went with the opus and that thing is amazing in itself but after hearing from friends, reading reviews, and actually looking at them in person....I had to have them.
yeah i've read a bunch about them and have seen a ton of pics but haven't seen them in person.. i live in north dakota so the closest ski shop that has them is like 250 miles away.. i decided a while back that i was going to get them, I'm stoked to see them in person
I don't have them yet but they're on the way. Pretty sure they're -2 from center though which is where I'll mount them, same as I did on the opus. There's more early rise in the tips than the tails for sure though so -2 is still gonna feel like a center mount. Haven't actually measured them yet though but my bud said -2. But I gotta do it myself ya know?
They'd still rock unless your droppin monster cliffs. My opus are are the 185 but my bacons are 178 and I'm 6'1" and 190lbs. But my plan with the bacons IS manueverability for park/tight trees/etc. Depends on what you want it for.
well, if i'm being honest with myself, since the skis will only really be for trips to jay peak and a week in utah with the pops, i'd probably be doing more trees than the big lines i want to be able to ski. so maaaybe i could still pull it off and get something bigger and stiffer later in my life.
this would largely be in impulse purchase (mad deal on proform + dreaming of having an ep ski for years), but if the 178s would kill it in tight trees like you say, perhaps i wouldn't quite be completely wasting my money.
This stuff is largely preference. I'm 5'8 and 140lbs. I guess I would probably get the 184 for myself. I've been to visit them a few times in various shops and considered both the 178 and 184. Because of how the 178 measures up its no taller than me and so for a pow ski I'd go bigger. I might get the 178 as a sort of versatile park ski, it just depends how my season shapes up. They seem pretty soft and I reckon you would be happier on the bigger sizes in either Bacon or Opus. Could you get the 185 Opus? or even 183 Blends although that wouldn't fit your EP Ski wish. Still be cheap on pro-form though!
Same size blend is longer. 173 Blends are the pretty much the same actual length as 178 Bacons, not quite sure why but I held them next to each other like 2 days ago. I'm sure they'd be fun in 178 by the way I just think you'd probably prefer the longer length.
