everyone should go vote on freeskier.com for the best skiers of this past year. Whether they had some sweet tricks in the Backcountry (LJ), slayed some gnarly urban (LJ), or went big in the park (LJ), vote in the head to head formats for your favorites and see who wins!

lj against wallisch was an impossible matchup...he would've made the second round against anyone else.

as far as second round goes: Tom, Pettit, P White (that was a tough matchup to decide), Sammy C.


I'm gonna take a guess at the next round and say tom vs sammy, and e-dollo vs. P white

this is a comp for best skier right? how the fuck did henrik beat rolland? rolland won an x games gold medal, and absolutely dominates the big mountain scene. he is THE most well rounded skier in the world.....this SOTY is kind of a joke...

No one is really talking about Bobby, but i would like to see him win. I think he had a killer season and he deserves it over tom wallisch who had a hurt shoulder and didnt do much for part of the season

I agree Bobby had a good season, but he has to get past Sammy C first! that was a hard choice for me.

this is actually bullshit , i know its just an online fan contest but LJ actually got robbed, the guy went so hard this season and really deserves some credit. his part in poor boyz was the most technical urban skiing of all time. he also had really nice backcountry shots and threw down some huge tricks (dub 16 blunt) at the park shoots. what more could he have really done?

The way I would run this would be a bit different.

I would have the list start with 16 skiers, and each person would be allowed to choose ANY 8.  After that I would pick 4 from the 8, then 2 from the 4......You would eventually get the top skier.

I don't like a format where you might have to eliminate a person you want to see go on.  I would pick Dan Tudor/Todd Ligare over lots of the guys in the original to 16, but I am not given that choice.

Oh well, this is not something to take too seriously.

Tom Wallisch (63%) vs. LJ Strenio (37%)

Fuck this, this is a disgrace to all that is holy and righteous.

Phil Casabon (55%) vs. Alex Schlopy (45%)

Can't really find flaws on this one, atleast Schlopy was relatively close. Imo it would have been nice if it were like a percentage point either way.

Sean Pettit (67%) vs. JP Auclair (33%)

Same thing. Wish it would have been closer, but Petit absolutely slaughters everything

Kevin Rolland (36%) vs. Henrik Harlaut (64%)

Remind me again how Henrik wins by this much over a current X gold medalist?

Henrik wins by producing awsome video segments, throwing an absolute mind blowing butter double cork, and throwing a BIO 14 blunt which blew everyones mind (except the judges...)

Henrik does tricks that no-one else would dare to try and does it with mind blowing style. He could easily do tricks in the X games with less style which would get better scores, and he could easily film with level 1 and get a nice seggy. But thats not what he does. He does his OWN thing and he does it REALLY fucking well. alot of people in our community respect that more then some X games medal


Go try and find another skiier who pulls bio 14 blunts in the x games and does butter doubles....

everyone saying that LJ had a sick segment in GB is correct. But Sean Ps is so good that MSP put his segment in Attack of La Nina twice. Boom.

New round is up. I cannot believe T-wall beat B-Dog, I know he's really popular but B absolutely destroyed this year! Lets hope E'dollo can survive the pretzle man.

Other than that, Parker white and sammy definately both deserve to have made it this far, thats gonna be a hard one, parker killed it this year but on top of hood was so sick and sammy finally got gold at x-games.

I'm surprised Tom didn't win by a bigger margin to be honest. I was afraid it would come down to Tom vs Henrik....tough choice for sure. This will be close I imagine.  

Sammy's a for sure win of this round in my opinion. He's killed everything this year. Comps, filming, backcountry. For me, he's one of the most well rounded skiers of today.

On another note, Henrik is so gracious and appreciative to his voters, thanking them on twitter etc... He is a very humble and thankful young man.

wammy tallnutz was hurt all year so why should he win skier of the YEAR? he would win the every 12 year old sucks my dick of the year but hes not the best choice for soty. like hes one of the best skiers right now, on the olympic team and stuff and hit one of the craziest handrails ever but he didnt have an amazing season. /rant

That's to be expected.  Most on here don't really care about big mountain skiing.  To me, that is a bit like a 15 year old, who has never gotten laid, claiming that chocolate is better than sex......

Sammy is the only guy left that I would actually bother to watch ski.

The reigning SOTY champ advances against our December cover boy. The B&E show star put up a fight, but Wallisch isn't the King (of Afterbang) for nothing.

Matchup 2: Sean Pettit (47%) vs. Henrik Harlaut (53%)
In true bracket-style format, Henrik Harlaut has upset Mr. MSP, Sean Pettit. Despite Sean's standout performance in La Niña, the people have spoken and Harlaut moves on.

Matchup 3: Parker White (51%) vs. Dane Tudor (49%)
In the tightest matchup of the round, breakout performer Parker White has unseated the multifaceted Dane Tudor. After taking down two big mountain heavy hitters (Sage and Dane), can Parker keep it rolling against Sammy?

Matchup 4: Bobby Brown (49%) vs. Sammy Carlson (51%)
In yet another tight matchup, the reigning X Games slope champ has bested the previous X Games slope champ. After an exit in the finals last season, Sammy is hungry and ready to go for the win.

This is a tight race, glad to see wallish isn't winning buy 75% though. And I have a feeling henrik's butter dub and x-games big air antics will pull him through this round.
