Anybody know of a kickass "learn to ski" vid series?
So I have a buddy who's an intermediate snowboarder that we have successfully converted. Yay! Well he is in the mil so he's away right now but I will be teaching him how to ski in mid November when he gets back. He does have access to the Internet though and I was wondering if there's a good "learn to ski" series on YouTube or vimeo so that he can get a head start. Everything I've found is oldschool and not very good. Think it'll be a big turn off to him but I want to set him up for success. Any help would be appreciated.
Rollerblades won't work in the desert but thanks. He's been watching ski vids and he's a decent boarder. I was jus hopin for somethin that goes over the mechanics but isn't done by some oldschool d-bag either ya know?
Well it's learning park I mean learn to ski is simple slide to stop, keep shoulders towards downhill, and lean and put pressure on downhill foot to turn. At first pizza to get the hang of it and voila.
I watch them for rail tips. Helps me get the hang of it seeing someone do it a few times over and over, get the motion/visualization down in my head and how its suppose to look like.
Yeah this dude has never been on skis. Was kinda hopin for like a beginner type of thing do he can get the basic mechanics understood before we hit the hill.
If somethin decent doesn't exist maybe a newshooler instructor should put together a basics to advanced vid series. It would be helpful in situations like these.
Honestly,
Half these kids probably buy a decent turn. I would actually try searching Epicski. After all it is just pretty much a front for selling PSIA instruction.
Yeah once he gets back from the sandbox I'll teach him. Way back when I was an instructor for both disciplines. Shit I'm the one who taught the guy how to snowboard....haha. He watched a few ski vids recently and instead of buying a new board he got a whole ski package. But he literally has never even attempted skiing and his phone time right now is limited. Plus I can only do so much over the phone. So again once he gets home I will spend a day teaching him. My intent was to give him something to watch for a kickstart and also something to help him pass his spare time over there being that he's so stoked on skiing right now.
Sparknotes: he doesn't need a lesson. He will get that from me. A few basic ski mechanics vids would be great as a kickstart to that. Thanks again for the effort regardless.
Maybe show him some of the ski instructor videos they show in training ( I dont know what PSIA does but CSIA has some although they'll still be lameo )
Infamous Scott Vail is always good though, plus can help him get down the basics on gnar park shredding
