Go Pro HD Hero 2 Release

Personally I think it's no better. The sample. Vids of the so called 2x sharper videos I find hard to believe. At first I was pissed I had just bought a gopro days ago but now I'm glad especially as you can have the wifi remote with it

The lights on all sides will actually be helpful, no more getting stupid shots of your face when you check to see if its recording or not!
being able to attach a mic might be handy for lots of people
other than that, i cant see it not being too much of a camera over the old one. When it comes down to it, its an auto-exposure camera - image quality may be good, but there only so much you can do wwith it. With that being said, I love mine! haha

looking like a solid improvement, but the gopro hd is already a very good camera (for its intended use, not trying to compare to a traditional video camera). I like the continued support for the original hd, and I like that the hd is cheaper. The angle of view feature seems coo, but I would be hesitant to try it without an lcd bacpac, at least the first time (but thats just because i'm used to my hd). It does seem like the 960 people are getting a little short changed with how they cant use any accessories, it would be nice if they could use the lcd and battery, because even thought I am generalizing here, typically the less experienced filmers, who could benefit from the lcd, get the 960. I like the direction they are going in with it, and though there are more megapixels, line skipping has never been an issue. the new interface looks cool, the one thing I am sort of mixed about is all the new options. While they are cool, one thing that was nice about the gopro was that you just select 1080/30 or 720 60, hit record, and go. I think that if they put too many options, people may see it as more of a regular camera that is waterproof etc, and not a dedicated one. I would rather it does one thing really well, than adding more mediocre features. I think right now the features are good, but I don't think they should be adding a ton more. /to much coffee rant

do you think they would release a naked version since i can be used with all the same accessories as the hd hero?

The under water quality seemed to be dramatically improved, but it's hard to tell what someone other than people like Abe will be able to do with the footage.

Meh... a slightly improved POV cam with some cool additions.  I rarely use mine as it is...

I'll wait for something a little more changed before making a $300 upgrade.

Looks pretty sick. I dig all the new features, but I don't understand the WVGA recording format. Can someone explain what that is?

Wvga is a pretty poor format, its used by old mobile phones and it's low resolution ( something like 400x300) although the 120fps function would be nice

Looks like they took care of the important flaws in the original gopro (lens sharpness, shitty LED screen). Im excited for badass PoV lines, not so excited for more shitty gopro edits.

wvga is standard def widescreen, pretty much what DVD quality is.

It's 480p. Which isn't really good or anything, but nice to have and play around with.
Mobile phones used to have VGA, which is 360p and that simply doesn't cut it.

If I'd get one, I'd get the old one. The GoPro 3 should be sick, it'll probably take 2 years to come out, but 60fps/1080p and 120fps/720p will be worth it I guess... (hopefully!)
