I hear people rave about the konova video sliders.  My friend has one and its pretty smooth and cheap.
What would be the best not depending on a budget?
Ive seen those amazon ones and the cinevates..
Whats good M&A?

With price being no object, cinevate makes some nice sliders. But if price were no object I'd get a dolly track instead

The ones where you stick your tripod on some wheels and put those wheels on a linear track. Makes it so you can move forward/backwards without seeing the end of a slider

it's a tradeoff, one that I'm perfectly fine with since I didn't use my slider much on the hill

That's odd. I've never had the issue. Maybe it's because of framing? Or the lens you use? I shot all mine with a 35 and a 50 and never saw the slider 42" with a flat perspective.

I was on either an 11-16 or a 17-40 most of the time. My slider was 80cm though

GET A BEARING SLIDER AND NOT A DRY-LINE SLIDER.

bearing sliders use bearings, and not friction, so they move smoothly regardless of weight. Dry-line sliders are friction based and with a heavy setup will not flow smoothly.

For someone who has a tight budget what is a good affordable slider. I am using a Panasonic HMC40 and a Manfrotto 128RC Tripod Setup...

konova is best bang for the buck. But the cheapest options are DIY or pieces of shit (opteka)

You're probably right. It would also be easier to not carry a slider up at all.

I don't mind carrying heavy shit. It sucks at first, but it whips you into shape. If heavier gear makes me break a sweat, I consider that a good thing. Plus heavier gear tends to be more stable (sliders, tripods, etc.)
