Any Marathon runners on NS?

Just wondering how many people on NS plan on or have run a marathon? Some one on NS has to have run the salt lake city of ogden marathon.

When you are in shape is feels like you just joged a mile or two once you finish. If not is must be living hell after mile 10 or so.

yeah, but the vast majority of people who cross the finish line after the 5 hour mark look like they just got raped by a horse. I strongly recommend to anyone who wants to run one to actually train for it

I ran one on a whim just over a year ago. I don't run in general, and hadn't run at all in quite a long time. My buddy mentioned he was running one the coming weekend, and I was like "That sounds fun, I'll join you." He laughed, said it was sold out anyway, and explained that training is necessary. I went on Craigslist, bought an entry from someone who was injured and couldn't run, and went with my buddy the following weekend, still not having practiced or trained in any way. I ran it in under 4 hours, and am fairly proud of myself. I'd definitely consider running one again, but would train for it beforehand.

I plan on training for a marathon sometime soon. My dads a straight boss though and has done like five ironmans. that shit it intense

I definitely plan on doing a few down the road. A lot of my buddies that I ran with in college did some right after they graduated and it destroyed them, so I plan to focus on shorter road races until I'm about 26 and then upgrade to the marathon. That way if it destroys me I'll at least have had some fun with a few years of road racing haha.

I ran a half marathon if that counts.... It was a ton harder than I thought mainly because I don't run lots (just play lots of sports and workout) but I did it. Major props to anyone who can do the whole thing cause I would probably die trying.

Sure, running a marathon is great. But understanding running to be a place of meditation, peace, thinking - a getaway - that's the real prize. There are very few things that force us into a natural state within our culture. Running, it's just you and your legs. So simple.
