Armada ARV - is it for real?

the arv's are a dope ski. i've only ridden them on groomers but i loved them.

Kinda hard ski to control if you dont really ride your edges hard. Pretty stiff, real poppy. Good board, not worth 675, but a good board. Waxing makes the bases look weird too...

last year's arv's weren't stiff. pr's as stiff or stiffer, last year's mo ships were way stiffer and seth's were pretty close. it's a powder and booter ski tho, so it's not supposed to be that stiff...prob has plenty of pop

dude i have the arvs, i havent skied them yet but i stood in the store flexing them, the pistols and the pocket rockets and the arvs are way stiffer, but not too stiff just stiffer than your average pow ski

ya i rode arvs all last year there not stiff at all and they were my main all around ski i rode pipe comps with them and they worked well they carve nice in the groomers just take bit more effort and they have pleby of pop an of course they rip in the pow, the top sheats did chip a bit but it wasnt bad to the extent where it delamed but its def a sick ski and worth geting

last year's motherships are way stiffer than most backcountry twins, and the year before's. seth pistols are soft as hell, but the arv's aren't much stiffer. they had those and the msp's in the same store and the msp's were way stiffer. i'd say arv's are about the same as pr's, but they won't break down like pr's. scratch bc's are stiffer than the arv's too. but u gotta think what they're for--it's not straightlining in alaska or somethin

I actually own a pair and have rode them for a season, here's what I can tell you:

Stiffness
Not too stiff, not too soft. They have some good flex in them which is pretty enjoyable. I ride open powder, glades, bumps & groomers with this ski and it's pretty sick in all those areas.

Durability
Bases are great, on the way down from a bump run or the backcountry I usually cut into the kiddie park and hit a rail in there, so that was like 20 rail hits and on ski was totally unscratched on the bottom, the other (front right foot) was pretty scratched but no real damage. The rail is rough too. However, the topsheets on these aren't the greatest, I have numerous small cuts and scrapes, but nothing very deep so they're not affecting the ski so I have no problem with them.

Park Riding
Unless you center mount these, I could ride park with em. I don't normally ride a fat ski in the park, but I took these in there a couple times and the mountain position (for pow) was too far back for park and felt awkward. If you have a pair of park skis, save them for park riding and use the ARVs in the powder.

Just picked upa pair of last years for $390.

I'm also curious about the mounting point. This is probably going to be my park/all mtn ski so I need a real versatile position.

I've stood on the skis at the mount point and it seemed pretty close to center.
