Recently I recieved an advisory from the office of the Medical Officer of health. Usually these advisories notify doctors of recent outbreaks of measles or meningitis, but this time the advisory was to alert physicians to multiple ecstasy related deaths that have occurred in Calgary and Vancouver since November 2011.
Ecstasy, or MDMA (methylenedioxymethamphetamine) tends to be distributed in colourful tablets often stamped with cartoon characters or other eye catching logos. It's made by mixing MDP2P, a light oil extracted from the park of a tree, with various chmeicals found in paint thinners and drain cleaners. Beginning in the '90s, producers started mixing in other ingredients such as cocaine and ketamine to keep their customers "interested." Most synthetic drug labs are in people's basements or bathtubs, and consist of plastic buckets, garbage pails and other hardware store items. The risk is that users have no way of knowing how the drugs were made, what's in them, or how they will react
Most of the recent Ecstasy deaths have been linked to exstasy tainted with PMMA(paramethoxymethamphetamine), dubbed by some drug experts as "meth's ugly cousin." PMMA is considered more toxic than MDMA, becasue the initial effects are often milder and delayed. This leads the user to believe that they've taken a weak MDMA product, and so they take repetitive doses quickly to get the desired effect. Because the effects are delayed, by the time the person realized that they've taken to much it's too late. THe overdose symptoms are agitation, delirium, sweating, tremor, muscle contractions, a clenched jaw, visual hallucinations, rapid pulse and breathing, and elevated temperature. Elevated temperature is a late and ominous sign, and can be followed quickly by muscle breakdown, seizures, organ failure and widespread bleeding and clotting. At this point death comes as a welcome relief.
The take home message is this. The people who make the drugs don't care if you die, they care about making money.
You have no way of knowing if a street drug is safe, because you will not know who produced it, what is in it, and under what conditions it was made.
There is no safe dose, and no one is immune to the risks. Fatal reactions have been reported after ingesting a single pill.

Yes I did just type all that lol and before people start saying cocaine in estacy is bullshit, that was back in the 90;s dunno coke might have been way cheaper back then now I can't see it happening just not worth it way cheaper alternatives.

Over the last couple of months there ahs been a lot of news surrounding Ecstasy. It is a popular drug among party goers and has been found in the Lake Louise Area.
There has been eleven Ecstasy related deaths in the Calgary area since January 2011 and four since January 2012.
Here is what we know:
MDMA (3-4 methylenedioxymethamphetamine) is a synthetic, psychoactive drug with hallucionegenic and amphetamine-like properties. Its chemical structure is similar to synthetic drugs MDA and methamohetamine. MDMA is also known as "E" and "X-TC".Related deaths are caused by complication of "malignant hyperthermia/hyperpyrexia" or what most people would call heatstroke.
PMMA is an analogue. PMMA (Para-Methoxyamphetamine) is similar to MDMA in effects. At high doses the side effects and danger of death are severe.
PMMA has a slow onset of effects so there is a tendency to take more. Characteristic symptoms are pronounced hyperthermia, tachycardia and hypertension. along with agitation, confusion and convulsions. An overdose can result in cerebral hemorrhage.
It is belived that PMMA is being added to MDMA due to its ease of availability and lower cost than MDMA.

thats all i'm going to write rest is just about an estacy bust in calgary of someone trafficking PMMA in calgary couple 19 year olds shitty buzz. Anyways I don't judge everyones just having fun and living your life not saying don't take drugs just understand you gotta be fucking careful.
