no he is not, like someone else said he found his dads old hats. Some of them arn't even old they are new styles(maple leafs, orioles, oregon) The Cardinals one looks like a little league hat.

But on to constructive criticism. Do you really talk the way you type? "cop these" "lemme get this one nigga" "prices negotiable" "$25 offer but will sell for higher" awful.

This is more like you flipping a few hats to your friends and on ebay rather then an actual business.

Obviously you need a few different styles in order to get more customers (New and Old). In case you didn't know, a lot of people prefer the new ones over the old ones (I personally don't, but I'm not wearing them). You can also get new ones for cheaper, which means more profit for me.

Onto the critique of your constructive criticism. I do not talk like that, because I didn't write "cop these", It was my friend. I admit that he is pretty illiterate and there's nothing I can do about that. Also, "lemme get this one nigga" was not me that typed that either because that was a customer asking to buy a hat, which could of easily been discovered by you if you would have read the name of the poster. And "prices negotiable" is perfectly fine to use in this situation. So hop off the sack

Its not a snapback business, you're selling old hats for money. Stop calling it a business like you're legit or that you have customers, you have friends who are buying some hats you bought from your local hat shop, thats not a business.

Also, if you look at definition 1 here: http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/Customers , you discover that since we have already sold 5 hats through our first and second days, we also do have customers. So you're wrong there too. And finally, we did not buy these hats from a local hat shop because hat shops only sell new hats, not vintage ones. Btw it's illegal to sell vintage hats so I couldn't even get any from a local hat shop anyways (LOL i joke)

hahah how old are you? selling some snap backs that you bought/acquired somewhere else is not a business. I don't care what the definition of a business, you're 15 and you're slanging snapbacks that you bought from someone else on fb, thats not a business. Get and LLC then you can call yourself a business, but you probably don't know what that is.

You are not creating a product, or really even have a store front. You find old hats and sell them for money. I guess in a very loose definition on the word, you could be a "business" but no one is being paid (besides yourself) and most likely you aren't paying taxes on your "business's" income.

An example of a company that is designing and selling their own snapbacks is a company like POW-WOW who actually designs their own product with a unique branding. Hell even arsenic apparel and pronto cuts are most business like then this Facebook Page/Free Ebay store deal you got going on

Do you think LIDS makes all their hats? No. They buy them in bulk from New Era and places like that. They're still a business. And @eheath you can't just make up your own definition. A definition is what it IS, so if it falls into that category, it is a business. It doesn't matter how unlegit it is.

But you are selling them without New Era's permission. Lids is an authorized dealer. You can sell them, but you cant make a "business" out of it. It's cute though how smart you think you are and how dumb this business is.

Do you think that I can be an "authorized" dealer when I'm in fucking high school? I bought 12 hats for 80 dollars, sold 4 of them so far and have made 80 dollars back. I have 8 hats to sell to make straight profit, so this isn't really a dumb idea, I'm making easy cash for someone in high school. What's dumb is that you sit behind a computer and try to flame people on a website when you're probably in your 20's and should be out getting laid or something. +2 cool points for you

The point people are trying to make is that the product isn't originally yours, therefore you shouldn't make it out to be your own business. If you have a company name and sell them as though they're your own product as a business, it could absolutely be illegal. There's a difference between selling your shit on Ebay and reselling another company's product as your own. You're not an authorized dealer of these hats, yet you're selling them as a business. By definition it's a business, but if you ask any businessman or bank, they'll probably laugh at you.

Yes but LIDS, has a legitimate storefront, authorization from NewEra, Pays taxes, is certified as a business, and pays employees. All things your business lacks.

Its not a company or a business you are running, there is no branding of your own, no trademarks (besides the ones you are most likely violating), none of the things that would really make you a business. Now if you branded your own hats, made unique (or even basic but still your own) designs, then you might be more under the realm of a business.

But as of now, all you are is a kid trying to make a few bucks by buying and reselling. Which is not a business but something kid do in high school to make quick cash. You are on the level of a drug dealer, they buy cocaine, or whatever other drug they sell at a lower price and sell it for higher to their customers. Do drug dealers own a business?

Technically they could be considered a sole proprietorship or joint venture, I'm not sure what the statues are regarding them needing to file anything with the government, but they would need to pay taxes on their sales and personal income.

They really do not need a website or storefront, many companies do this via ebay and amazon, so they're legit in that sense.

In reality, selling shit on Ebay is still business, whether its good business or not is up for debate.

Certified as business: some states don't require you to register sole proprietorship, which would be what they are.

employees: they are their own employees

They own the product, as long as they do not put their own logo and sell it as their own (as in they made it) then they can do whatever the fuck they want, regardless of any brand name or copyright.


What they are doing is re-selling products which is completely legitimate.

Is it a good business plan, not really, will they earn a few bucks spending money, absolutely.


Not all businesses have to be incorporated or generate enough money to support the owners lifestyles. In fact 2/3rds of all businesses fail at some point.

Do I think they'll last, no.

Will anyone's bitching on NS: a)change the legal definitions of anything, b) keep these kids from doing it, or c) improve/disprove their business strategy?

No to all of it.

Let them have their shitty business selling hats, I only saw like two worth buying anyways.
