it's something to do with the liquid nitrogen 'freezing' it in the magnetic field. the reason we don't use it (yet) is because it would be FUCKING expensive.
Its because we can't easily produce a superconducting medium (by cooling it to absolute zero). If a room temperature superconductor were to be discovered (they are experimenting with graphene and bucky balls) then it would revolutionise both electronics and transport
