I was right where you stopped when you snapped your ski... I didn't hear about the jam or I would have thought about bringing up my skis. I would have been bottom of the pack though.
Were those the surface skis that had the really crummy cores?
It went ILL! We'll definitely be trying to throw this again, at least annually. We're talking about buying the long box to use every jam, and then continue to get one or two features from a local mountain/camp like we did with Momentum this year.
We're also trying to get Cricket to make a stop here next year, but they need some ridiculous amount of funding on our part to make it happen, so we'll see. Hopefully we can do something similar to today's jam (but more structured) in the spring.
Also, feedback on what you guys liked/ how we can improve it in the future is huge. We're just trying to make this better every year, and the more feedback the better.
spring rail jam would be so sick. Next time you guys should get a bunch of astroturf to thrrough down on the in run and landing so the snow doesnt get melted so quickly
The jam was awesome, good job putting it together! Didn't make the finals but I had a good time, and then got some SICK photos during the final. A spring jam would be righteous
a big bag of salt would have been perfect! would have been nice to have the lip stay solid and more people would have been able to 2 on without killing the lip.
ya that would be them, i've snapped my fair share over the past two years (like 5) but to be fair they were very cheap and they've been good about the warranty. I just didn't want to bring my new halos and I thougth 182cm ski wasn't needed for a rail jam.
who was the guy with long hair snapping photos right below the lip of the long box/rail feature? had a wide angle lens an was gettin right up into the action... he showed me some dope pics of everyone after finals were over, id love to see them online!!
Yah such a fun jam, I'd be stoked to see some pictures. It'd be so sick to have a Cricket Jam stop here, it would go off. If we get that box it'd be rad to have a couple sessions if/when it snows on the knoll.
...iPhone. Hopefully I'll have it running again by the end of the day tomorrow; I'll upload the photos to the UBC ski and board club Facebook. Also if you check the back page of the Ubyssey issue that came out Monday, that's the angle I was shooting for the most part.
There's the album on facebook with rail jam photos! If you're not in it, I probably missed the shot, but tell me what you were wearing and I'll send you any decent photos.
