So, this genius though just occurred to me:
How come east coast rap is fucking ill and westcoast coast rap isn't anywhere near as dope?
I mean there's exceptions, I'm not saying all westcoast rappers suck, but generally eastcoast rappers are much better, no?
Nas, Wu, Mobb Deep, Jazzie, Biggie, Rakim etc. all the legends are from the east coast (and NY mainly).
The only rapper that can top that (imo) from the westcoast is Tupac (NY-born, maybe that has something to do with it?). Guys like Dre and Snoop (for what it's worth) aren't bad or anything, but they're not up to par. I gotta admit I'm not a big fan of the 'west coast sound' though.
Odd Future definitely is awesome and doing something new, so let's not about those guys.
Oh, and let's keep nerds like Weezy outta this...
Am I totally forgetting something? Or is it about taste?
